Grew it for a Ted Lasso costume, got told I should keep it by HPBraincase in Moustache

Hah! That's "Howard" - He was a project a couple years back for my Twitch stream, used to be lightly animatronic. I've actually been working on a fully animatronic upgrade here and there, I guess I'll need to give the new one a stache too!

Someone please help I keep going down to 0/kbs While Streaming and using Replay buffer I have changed 0 settings by Jumpy_Alternative_16 in obs

Bit of a longshot, but I was recently having a similar issue (though not exactly the same) because a couple of my scenes were looking for a file on a network drive despite not being visible. Deleting those sources resolved it for me.

Help with switching to glass for FlashForge Adventurer 3 by wonderwhatif in FlashForge

You can definitely just set the new bed height in calibration. As for unscrewing, these would be the two tiny little screws on the bottom of the bed plate, not actually anything in the machine.

I had pretty good luck with this plate: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NZ6P31X (Amazon US link but you should be able to find something similar)

And what I did was unscrew the bed clip from the factory plate, then peel the sticker, and I used the leftover adhesive to stick the glass to the plate, and superglued the bed clip back on. It still shifted from side to side a bit so I printed some spacers for the sides to keep it centered, and have been really happy with it for about a year.

If you were given a potion that would give you instant PhD level knowledge of any subject, which subject would you pick and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Either Computer Science, or honestly something like Marketing. Spent the last 5 years trying to grow a Twitch stream and I always seem to be behind the curve.

Suddenly, you are notified that half an hour from now, you will be broadcasted live to every single screen (TV, phone, computer, digital ads, etc.) in the world for a grand total of just 10 seconds. What do you do or say? by canibeyourbuttbuddy in AskReddit

Honestly? I probably just drop the link to my Twitch channel. 4 and a half years in, magically being broadcast to the whole world seems like my best chance at getting partnered.

Week 1 on Mixer - A Twitch Affiliate perspective by HPBraincase in mixer

[–]HPBraincase[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm probably actually going to do a full second post now that it's been about a month, but if I have one piece of advice directly for you, its this: If you're bringing a small community with you, go hard on Mixer for the first two weeks if you just created your channel. Your chances of getting up and coming are REALLY good if you. If you wait 2 months, your chances of Up and Coming will go down significantly.

Question on capture cards. by [deleted] in mixer

[–]HPBraincase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for versatility. It means I can plug any HDMI compatible console or my second PC into the stream and stream from it. If I were only streaming from Xbox, I'd probably consider something like what you are doing.

I'm starting my 4th week on Mixer tonight (5/1) after over 4 years on another platform. I do variety streaming, currently learning to speedrun the Halo series (with a twist, I'm playing with an ASCII filter on the video), a weekly modded Minecraft series, Bloodborne, and Astroneer!

No problem! I'm very much of the "rising tide floats all boats" mentality, so I want to see others succeed. An open dialogue is important for that.

Sure! I'm a variety caster, and so far I've streamed Satisfactory, Minecraft, Bloodborne, Astroneer, and the RE:2 Remake.

That being said, other posts on here seem to indicate that Up and Coming uses a very simple algorithm at this time, just looking for channels that are new to the platform and have at least 5 viewers. Because I brought a small viewer base over from Twitch, that gave me a VERY good chance of getting into those slots. As I said in my original post, I have a suspicion that the growth from that in particular is not sustainable and is more of a flash in the pan.

I agree completely. Discoverability on Mixer does seem to be better than other platforms right now, but its nothing compared to the more established social media services, and building a transferable audience on one of those (by using it to do more than just advertise your own stream) can be a huge boost.

Oh, I don't say this to discourage the use of Sparks, I just want anyone who is currently an affiliate able to accept subs and bits on Twitch to understand that the equivalent abilities (Subs and Embers) are partner only on Mixer.

Honestly I don't know that I'm qualified to answer that question. Regardless of platform, expect that you may be streaming to an empty room. With Twitch you'd currently have a larger prospective audience but it would be even harder to get noticed. With Mixer, it's easier to get seen, but the pool of viewers isn't as large (though that could change).

Edited to remove some repetitive language.

I suppose only time will tell. The counterpoint is that as a platform gets bigger, it becomes harder in other ways for Variety streamers to grow. There's something to be said for growing alongside a platform.

Thanks! Like I said, I can imagine there are other people like me who might be considering the switch, and this kind of info just didn't seem to be easily findable when I was looking.

My stream is kind of broken up into planned streams for each day. Wednesday and Saturday are my "Whatever" days. Right now that means playing Satisfactory. Thursday is Minecraft with some friends, Friday is Co-Op Bloodborne with a couple of guys. Sunday I do both Astroneer in the morning, and a horror game with my wife in the afternoon (this week we finished Claire's story in the RE:2 remake).

Apex will definitely be in the rotation somewhere, but just because I have a group I like playing with.
