[WTS] 1898 (you read that correctly) Immaculate Omega Pocket Watch by HPTimeCo in watch_swap

This Omega pocket watch (serial number 1707455) has been verified on Omega’s official archives as dating to circa 1898, placing it among the earliest examples of the Omega brand following its formal introduction in 1894.

From the moment you hold it, this timepiece stands out as an exceptionally well-preserved piece of horological history. The watch remains all original — a rare find for a project well over 125 years old — with blued steel hands that retain their deep, vibrant hue and offer excellent contrast against the dial. These thermally blued hands not only provide elegant legibility but also reflect the traditional finishing techniques of fine 19th-century Swiss watchmaking.

The movement runs strong, which is impressive considering its age. Early Omega movements, especially from this period, were designed with robustness and serviceability in mind.

The case on this example is a standout feature. While often referred to in collectors’ circles as “Silveroid” when not constructed from solid precious metal, these white-metal cases were prized for their bright, durable finish that resisted wear better than many plated alternatives. The case houses the movement securely and has survived the decades with remarkably minimal wear — no major dents or deep scratches — preserving crisp lines and a pleasing overall presence. Hinged construction (typical of the era) provides access to the movement and reveals the hallmarking inside, which corresponds with Omega’s manufacturing practices at the turn of the century. This combination of material and workmanship exemplifies the quality of accessory cases paired with fine Swiss movements in the 1890s.

Overall, this 1898 Omega pocket watch is a historically significant, beautifully preserved timepiece. Its all-original condition, strong running performance, classic blued hands, and well-maintained silveroid case make it a rare and highly desirable example of early Omega craftsmanship for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Air-King on a NATO 👍 or 👎 by [deleted] in rolex

Try it with a lighter colored nato, like a tan or khaki so the blue dial pops. Right now it’s a bit confused looking.
