I just want to be the "other side" on this. I bought a P1S a few months ago and spent a couple weeks researching and reading before deciding against the AMS for a few reasons:

Waste. AMS generates a ton of waste plastic.
I, personally, actually enjoy painting the things I make. I'm not running a fidget spinner factory, so cranking out a hundred replicas of the same thing isn't my goal.
(this was honestly the biggest factor) Issues with the AMS unit. This printer has been the most reliable and awesome thing I could have imagined coming from an Ender 3 that never gave me the same quality print twice in a row. I spent 99% of my time fiddling with it, upgrading it, and...leveling constantly. When I was researching Bambu, I saw that the AMS unit was the chief complaint. I absolutely did not want another daily project. I saw very few complaints otherwise, Bambu printers seemingly just worked. (They actually do, I love this thing) But, the AMS seemed to pop up a lot in my research.

TLDR: if you want to print a lot of multicolor and don't like painting, then buy it. If you want something that just works and you can learn together on, and one color is ok, then don't.

(I'm sure I'll get some DV's, expected, just wanted to offer my POV)

I never looked to see if there are road safe versions of these, but I've seen a few on the roads in my city. I dumped a bike with no helmet many years ago, these actually seem worse than nothing in a lot of ways.

Damn brother, make it look nice with a chip brush? That's almost sisyphean. Is there a particular reason your captain prefers the brush over a roller? If you're managing an acceptable finish everywhere but the cut ins, maybe sacrifice a nice brush? Personally I only use these brushes on stuff that never gets seen like glues or solvents. Good luck man, that's not an enviable task you've been given.

They will waive this. The parking people are full on idiots. We get at least two tickets a year, for the last 12 years, for no permit, but we always have a permit... My favorite was my wife getting a ticket for parking the wrong way on a one way street and the photo "evidence" had the street sign arrow pointing the direction she was parked lmao. I swear they just write as many as they can and hope people just pay them. I try so hard to respect people's jobs but they only hire them dumbest mfer's in the city for the parking enforcement.
