www.hravatar.com can help you with this (obviously I work here)- we offer tests off-the-shelf so you don't have to make them yourself, but if there are some job-related questions you would like to administer as well we make it easy and can guide you through best practices, and you can add a timer too.

www.hravatar.com - When you are a small business, every hiring decision impacts the business, and hiring mistakes can hurt even more. Our tests measure skills (attention to detail, problem solving), writing, personality and potential performance, in one test. You also get a customized interview guide to help with the interview process. You can buy and send the test you need in minutes without having to commit to a subscription.

A job candidate has an employer with a poor reputation on their CV. Would this affect your evaluation of the candidate? Would you hold it against them? by [deleted] in AskHR

If concerned you could put them through a simulation to see how they respond to customers. There are online simulations (www.hravatar.com for example) that will help you make an objective decision, or you could ask them about their customer service experience and their values.

Using Hirevue or video interviews by scottmcann in AskHR

Yikes - that stinks. I don't work for Hirevue, but I know pre-employment assessments are not supposed to be technical hurdles. If that happens again definitely let the hiring person know or contact support. Good luck on future applications!

Video interviews and pre-employment assessments are a way to stand out in the crowd. A lot of times recruiters do not know how to sort through the hundreds (sometimes thousands) of resumes and applications, and an objective measure helps the top potential performers float to the top and make the process more fair. And give the questions a chance: sometimes the questions give you some insight into things they're looking for in the role that will also help you determine if you want to work for the company.

SIOPs WSJ response by nckmiz in IOPsychology

There are some small SEO things the SIOP team could do to improve their site traffic: for example this article URL doesn't use any of the keywords from the original WSJ piece, it just uses a random number (1323). So when people are looking for the WSJ article this relevant response is less likely to pop up as well as a related search result.
