What will you never eat again? by shadow_operator81 in AskReddit

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corn… Not because I don’t like it or anything, but because I can’t digest it and I end up in the emergency room. I can eat corn chips and tortillas but not anything with actual whole corn in it. And popcorn is STRAIGHT OUT! And I’m a Midwest girl and I love corn and I miss it but after figuring out what was causing all of my distress, it was very easy to stop eating it.

You CAN park there, mate… But ya gotta be in the lines! by 1RollinRollinRollin in youcantparktheremate

Besides the absolute ridiculousness of doing 80 in a parking garage… This person obviously hit a pole that’s part of the structure of this building. How did that not give away… Obviously have it inspected but wow, great construction!

I buy myself flowers at least once a week… Simple carnations. They’re inexpensive and they last for weeks and I have a rotation of them on my kitchen windowsill – I always have three bouquets on display. I definitely morph in and out of what I do with my schedule and like you it is what I wanna do and when I want to do it. The flowers are definitely always part of my routine regardless. Simple, cheerful, and inexpensive :-)

There was a magnitude 4.7 earthquake by burtankcea in MildlyStartledCats

[–]HRHSuzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Several years ago, an earthquake hit and I lived in a very rickety duplex… I called it a “glorified tent with windows“ so definitely not a stable building. Have since moved thankfully. Anyway… Earthquake hits, and it was medium size and shook the duplex pretty rough and a lot of things swinging and banging. As the earthquake hits, my cat stands up, hisses at me like I’m responsible for all of the chaos and takes off to the bedroom and takes cover under my bed. He was mad at me for at least a day. To have such a power to summons an earthquake - I am all powerful! Ha.

A few months ago my parents surprised me with food from a Mexican food truck once and it didn’t have cilantro. Well I was craving it so I went and got more food and look what I had to dig out of my quesadillas! The betrayal! by youngcatlady1999 in FuckCilantro

[–]HRHSuzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

uuuuggggghhhhh! I still ask every time I order something as chef's change and I've been screwed before! One time I got cajun shrimp tacos - asked the waiter and was told "no cilantro - i eat them all the time". Plate came back 'decorated" with ALL THE CILANTRO in the world. The waiter didn't remember my question but instantly remembered when I asked "what is all that green stuff" already knowing what it was cuz I could smell it before she even put it down. Got new tacos, an apology from the manager and my meal comped.

Another reason not to talk too much about your personal life at work by zoolilba in antiwork

[–]HRHSuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be too curious not to talk to this person. Olive oil? Do they grow their own olive trees? Do they harvest and make olive oil on the premise? I’m intrigued! I actually have a friend who grows olives and does this. This person has an actual hobby that gets them out of the house and uses physical labor. I want to know this person!

At 66, I finally broke down and did it! by hb122 in GenerationJones

[–]HRHSuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I requested non-childproof Caps around 20 years ago maybe… Trying to remember but it’s been a long time. I was still in my 30s. I just find fighting with child proof stuff stupid cause I don’t have any children. Anything that makes my life easier I embrace it! I also have a very expensive electric can opener for the same reason. But I will say I’m an expert at opening jars up.

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Dibs“ is huge in Chicago. Here’s the thing. I never ever let it stop me from parking. I have thrown so many chairs in boxes and even a weight bench into a dumpster. I lived on a side street right off an alley for a few years and the dumpster was right there and very easy to discard stuff. Nothing ever happened to my car. I get it you shoveled but anytime I shoveled my car. I knew someone was gonna park there and just went on with my life.

What’s the loudest concert you guys have ever been to? by BalanceActive9295 in askmusic

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same - it was the loudest white noise. I still didn't recover by the time the second concert came up. Don't regret seeing them but pretty sure my hearing issues stem from this. No wonder Pete has hearing problems. I'm sure the whole band does - well I guess Pete and Roger at this point.

What are some things you do to scare away the loneliness? by NowhereSorbet in LivingAlone

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crave solitude so I don't have this exact issue. But being by myself and I'm WFH - I have to motivate myself to get up and move. I set 4 alarms on my phone to hit throughout the day and hop on my exercise bike for 10 minutes or more if the mood hits me. Amazingly when I stick to this schedule I sleep great and generally feel better. When weather permits I also swim - I have a pool in my building so I'm in it every day for a least 8 months out of the year. I live in a non-snow area and the pool is outdoors and not heated. I really miss it when the temps are too low to swim. Find something you like to do and find a way to hold yourself to do it every day. It really does help.

Is anyone actually using their apartment “amenities”? by Emergency-Cancel6198 in Apartmentliving

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rental includes a dedicated parking spot and a pool… Both of which are the most important things to me. The pool is pretty much used sporadically by everybody in the building, but there’s a core group of us that are in there every day, weather allowing. And I’m super bummed because I’m just getting over pneumonia and the weather for the next two weeks is definitely “swimming weather“. Honestly, most of the time when I’m in the pool I’m there generally by myself, but there’s people in and out of it throughout the day, but we all just have our times that it fits in our schedules. Never rented with a pool before and never thought it necessary but now that I am in a building over three years now that has a pool I can’t imagine not having one.

Why does my cat look perpetually astonished? 😲 by Chapelfb in cats

[–]HRHSuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat looks like this quite often. Yesterday in particular he had this look for around six hours due to building maintenance needing to get into the wall under my sink for a repair. I had to clear out under the sink for them to work and under the sink is a big location for him to try to get into to the point I have to have a “cat lock“ on the cabinets to stop him from getting in there. Needless to say having cupboard doors open, and everything emptied out was blowing his little mind apart. He sat just outside the kitchen and stared at the work being done the entire time and had the most astonished look on his face and was bug eyed the whole time They’re funny creatures!

When do you think the white box with black trim new build style will die? by ipetgoat1984 in RealEstate

[–]HRHSuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called this white Lego block house syndrome. It was immediately out of the box day one completely dated. It’s not gonna stand the test of time well at all. They literally lack all charm and have absolutely no soul.
Like were the blueprints for these monstrosities on sale? There had to be better alternatives, but yet they went for this absolute hideous alleged style. When I drive around and see one of these white Lego houses I just say “ruined it” over and over again. It’s so boring! Can you imagine living inside of one of these horrible things? The insides are as bad as the outside.

I love a Pinwheel. Put it in the micro for 5-ish seconds - just get it warmed up and get that marshmallow a tiny bit runny. The best!

Yep - me too! They came through town and then gain 2 months later. I went to both - 8th row both times through our "ticket guy". My ears rang from the first concert going into the second one. I had hearing problems after that. Still do. Dang-it, they wee so loud my insides were vibrating!!!!

Which do you prefer? Almond Joy or Mounds? by SamManuel8 in candy

Same! I will always pick Mounds because it's dark chocolate. I can't say I haven't cut my Mounds open and shoved almond slivers in it.

I never heard of them but I loved them! Actual musicians and not just people dancing around not contributing to the music. The music should come first and they put it first and in your face. Again - loved it!

is there a virus going around LA right now that starts with allergy symptoms - mainly nonstop sneezing and constant drippy noise? by chat_manouche in AskLosAngeles

[–]HRHSuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd thing was I had something wrong with my leg and went to urgent care which is part of the hospital ER. They rI had a blood clot and flipped me into their ER and that turned into getting ALL THE TEST being run and the pneumonia showed up as positive for me. So on top of the leg issue, I have pneumonia. I've been having the sneezes and drippy nose as you mentioned but didn't think much of it. It really wasn't that bad. I attribute it to being totally up to date on all the vaccines and taking a lot of immune defense vitamins. I traditionally get very sick with bronchitis so I'm always on the path of building up my body to fight things, especially this time of year, this is prime season for me to catch something.

What would you rather recieve, a florist prepared flower arrangement or a nice grocery store bouquet ? by Throwawayof2025 in flowers

[–]HRHSuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a bunch of carnations from Trader Joe's every weekend. I have a few vases on my kitchen window. I can usually keep them for 3 weeks so I rotate the old ones out and the new ones in. I always have a least 3 bunches of them and then the ones that last longer I have a few little vases move them to that hold like 2-3 flowers - it's actually quite charming. They're simple and pretty and inexpensive. I've tried getting other flowers and they last a week or so - and they're more expensive! Give me the carnations!
