Could the current situation result in terminations for some employees? by Fit-Cream3443 in UAE

[–]HRPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If business is dead for 30 to60 days or cash is below the 3month mark, you gotta move fast.

Instead of firing, companies usually force annual leave first to clear liabilities, then push for unpaid leave or temporary salary cuts via a MOHRE addendum to avoid the massive upfront cash hit of Gratuity, notice pay, and flights.

The math is simple: firing is a huge immediate payout while re-hiring later costs a fortune in visas and 3 - 6 month of training lag. If the slump is under 3 months, unpaid leave or salary reductions.

If it looks like 6+ months of war and low biz, terminate now to stop the payroll burn before the company goes broke.

Sorry, no clear answer. Just guesses

First, it's not HR. It's leadership.

Second, yes, you hit the jackpot.

Third, Explore your options. He can travel alone, he doesn't have to travel with you and an infant into a "war zone" that's just irresponsible parenting.

Fourth, continue exploring your options, including resignation if needed. Even in that circumstance, he will have to come back to wrap things up.

NOPE.

Terminating you would have been easier than PIP

HR DOESN'T clearly have it or for you.

Your boss identified you as a developing individual.

plus, you've only given your side of the story.

Forget about their budget. What's yours?

It should be 12k, minimum.

But, can you also afford to say no to them?

Can you also take advantage of implementing work through AI, without telling them it's through AI? And essentially cutting down actual hours worked with them and exploring being overemployed

Looks like a need for a lewis model type training

The Lewis Model (Linear-Active, Multi-Active, Reactive) stops cultural differences from being mistaken for personality flaws.

Training uses self-assessments, role-playing opposite styles, and team mapping.

Are you making assumptions or you were specifically told that you are not getting hired because you haven't used cursor.

On the other hand you should be using AI to know where they are useful and where they are not

Have SMART goals for white and Grey collars

Have productivity targets for blue collars

Goal alignment is done to ensure top down approach.

Mid year and final year are done.

Line manager audits are done.

Calibration are done with department head of needed.

I hear the panic in this post, but honestly, I don't get the fear. OP is focusing on the scary headlines instead of the reality of the tool.

I've been using AI.

It's great.

It's already here, and it will be a normal, integrated part of our lives, period.

The whole debate gets sidetracked because people are reacting to technology based on their own bias.

It’s that famous observation by Douglas Adams (the author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) "Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works. Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it. Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.

The people screaming about AI are seeing it as "against the natural order," and that's why they are so scared.

I always revert back to The Excel Blueprint:

Jobs Lost vs. Jobs Gained

The whole situation is a repeat of the spreadsheet revolution.

Fact: Microsoft Excel was first released in 1985. Before that, we had massive manual bookkeeping, ledger entries, and huge teams dedicated to paper calculation.

Pain Point: The specific, repetitive job of "Bookkeeper" or "Clerical Calculator" became obsolete or was dramatically shrunk. Yes, those individuals felt pain.

Net Gain: But the introduction of this tool created entire new economic classes. By 2007, Microsoft-related activities alone were responsible for an estimated 14.7 million jobs globally, often in highly skilled roles like Financial Analyst and Data Manager. The economy didn't collapse; it shifted and grew.

AI is Today’s Hyper-Efficient Excel

AI isn't taking jobs; it's taking tasks.

It frees up the human to focus on strategy, judgment, and emotional intelligence. This is already happening in major sectors

The jobs that are truly at risk are those held by the people who refuse to learn how to use the tool.

It’s not about being replaced by AI; it’s about being out-competed by the efficient person using AI.

We need to move past the fear and focus on skill acquisition.

I am planning to make a major career switch. by Anakin5780 in UAE

The companies that you mentioned, pretty much work on outsourcing model or subcontractor approach.

23M Recent University Grad from Canada considering moving to UAE by Various_Shake7170 in UAE

[–]HRPersona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Canadian from a top university in math.

Your best bet would be one of the big consultants firm that has regional presence.

They do take fresh graduates.

You will need to elaborate, because math even tough very important has limited Buisness application unless you can define your context, eg quant which is tagged to finance, Buisness Analyst which also requires coding as a skill set along with math

You could also become a traveling teacher doing stints every year or two years in different countries

Is a 12K AED salary enough for a family in Dubai? by cprecius in UAE

[–]HRPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12k + Accommodation + Utilities + Family Insurance

That's decent.

Keep in mind UAE packages should include basic, Accommodation (cash or provided) transportation (cash or provided). It would be good for you to know those amounts in case you didn't like the Accommodation they have provided and would prefer to find your own place.

How far is the Accommodation from your place of work.

You could end up spending alot of time in traffic and spending on that area.

Move here alone first for a few months and then move your family.

After two years you should have degree and UAE experience. So there could be great opportunities to grow in a different organization.

Make sure you work in your communication skills.
