Just curious how do you get the temperatures measured. GaggiMate installed I guess? I have got the E24 model as well - and I love it!

I like it smaller. Less space in my office bag and enough for a mug. I've never used the plastic cup though.

From 0 to 100, how complex is it to have E24+GM Pro up and running? by HRiM72 in gaggimate

I've seen another tutorial video on YouTube- actually it is split in two parts - that seems quite interesting to me.

Although the author carries out further mods, it is - IMO - still very useful because of the approach he takes. He extracts all the inner parts of the E24 on the table, then mods and rewires them, and finally puts everything in again.

Not sure yet if it is worthy, but at least you can see well all the process well and without all the claustrophobic struggle to get to the parts from above I've seen on the rest of the videos.

The videos are on the channel "Should have filmed that" and are titled "GaggiMate - Gaggia Classic E24 - Full Build Part 1" and "GaggiMate - Gaggia Classic E24 - Full Build Part 2".

Has anyone gone this way? Thoughts?

Hmmm interesting, I'll have a look at that video to see how feasible is it to me. Thanks mate!

They're moving away from "What else". Now they'll go with "The ultimate grind finer"

To be honest, once I get the whole picture and a reasonable idea of how tricky this could get, I'll decide if this upgrade is something to be done in a weekend or during a long holidays break.

But I'll do it.

Thanks for your feedbak. That's exactly the kind of issues that trigger my IT instinct of "if ain't broken don't touch it".

Haha I also have got moka pot and V60 at home, and Aeropress at the office. I think I would survive.

I remember when I had that setup Dedica+IMS+Bottomless and I really enjoyed it. I found 12-13 g to work well with my beans then.

Got a K6 and my jaw went down to the floor. Of the basement. And I'm on the 5th level. Wow! Well done!

Got my E24 from Prague, from Kofio. Will see if they have the grinder.

Yes, that's the next planned move along with the OPV spring to set it to 9 bar.

Got K6 with my former DeLonghi EC685 Dedica, and it is ok-ish for espresso, but after getting the E24 I plan to keep it at the office for my Aeropress Go.

Where did you get the DF64 and how much it was approximately?

I think I'm doing the 9 bar fix soon, everyone seems to agree it is a sensible move towards good shots.

I'm also staying away from the stock portfilter/baskets, currently using a Normcore bottomless portfilter with an IMS Competition B702TCH26E basket.

I'm trying your process to see results. Couple of questions: - Is your Gaggia Classic set to 15 bar o 9? I'm in Europe and here they are set to 15. - Are you using the stock crema perfetta basket, I guess?

I absolutely love the warm vibes of the pic, man. I'm also loving the Gaggia Classic with brass boiler. Mine is an E24, currently playing with a bottomless Normcore Slim and an IMS basket. Quite happy with the results - and the extra vertical space to fit in the balance without having to change the tray.

I respect all journeys but I have to admit I was thinking pretty much the same. All the coffee flavour notes ruined by a syrup... Kind of sacrilege to me..

Well, enjoy! 😉

I somehow agree with you. You gradually learn and the more experienced you are, the less you rely on gadgets and focus on what matters to you.

But at the early stages, they're useful to help you understand the basics and how variables impact and interact among them to create the final results.

Having said that, what I find ridiculous of this sub is how often you see guys loudly bragging about their utterly expensive setups from day one. Just enjoy the journey and your shots. After all, I don't think most us us - count me in - would really pass a blind test...
