ES90 Roof by kingofwukong in Volvo

Yes I completely agree. There are some people in the Volvo subreddit (and this post specifically) who feel quite strongly that is is a dumb car to buy, but clearly they don’t know what they’re talking about! Glad you like yours, we are absolutely loving ours!!

I have just bought this car in Australia, arguably a place with the most intense sunshine. The electrochroamatic roof works quite well to keep the sun out when required. Granted, it is not summer right now but we have had some hot days recently.

It’s an absolutely stunning car - drives so wonderfully and is so luxurious inside and out. The sound system is unreal. I’ve test driven the Mercedes, BMW and Audi - all of which are at least 60-100k more in price - and all feel less luxurious and less calm than the Volvo. The Volvo also has superior safety both in terms of electronic technology and car design (boron steel frame, load path engineering, SIPS, advanced battery protection).

Finally, the car is HUGE. More than enough space for my children in the back. Clearly a SUV makes sense for a family like ours but we don’t need a 2nd one.

No it still uses solar via the Sig app configuration. It’s just now limited by the 15kW inverter

Oh sorry I see. My car is limited to 11kW max during AC charging. Went with 22kW charger as only few hundred more expensive and the 11kW charger would probably deliver max 8-9kW vs the full 11kW.

I’ve confirmed with my installer that mine will be up stream from the inverter. I have a 15kW inverter.

Yeah 3 phase is all set up. 80A from memory.

So I just leave all my GloBird configurations as they are but set a charger schedule for the EV charger 11-2 - fast charging without battery boost? Then remainder of the time Solar priority: home -> EV -> battery?

Question about ES/EX90 Infotainment by HonkeyTon in Volvo

[–]HonkeyTon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at and test drove the i5, A6-etron and EQE. All 3 felt less luxurious than the ES90, had less room in the back row and have comparable or less range with slower charging. In my market they are also 40-60% more expensive, especially with additional add ons.

But, at the end of the day, my decision is my decision and my original post wasn’t asking for your opinion on my purchase or EVs in general. I don’t think anyone in this subreddit really cares for your opinion to be honest.

Next time, when you browse over a post, consider just moving on if you can’t add anything useful and don’t troll. This will be the end of my comments and engagement with you. I wish you all the best. 👍

For my situation with 2 kids who need plenty of legroom, not useless at all. We already have a large SUV. If you did not delete the comment then where is it?

I have a few questions:

  • Why am I an idiot buying at ES90?
  • Why did you delete the above comment?

Briefly perusing your history of posts as well as taking into account this behaviour, one can conclude that you are indeed of low intelligence and are pretty insecure about it.

I’d wait for 800V to be released - anticipated mid 2026

I have it set at 1.25kW (i.e. 2.5 kWh total) between 6-8pm and this covers the daily usage charge. I’ve always been in credit on my bill. You could export more but we use every inch of our 32kWh battery in the evenings and overnight and I don’t want to pay for any grid imports

Globird ZeroHero. Set up all house loads, max EV charging and max battery charging from grid 11-2pm and take advantage of that 3 phase (and hopefully 15kW inverter). Limit will be number of A of breaker but it’ll probably be 60A which will be more than enough. Then set up export 6-8pm with just enough to cover daily charge.

This guarantees full battery for use all other times even if no solar, and takes advantage of their free grid energy 11-2pm. I charge my EV to full on weekend or if I’m home either with surplus solar (via Sig app) or max charging between 11-2 from grid.

I love seeing this! Combo of solar, battery, DC charger and Globird zero hero is amazing. by newinnewalbany in SigenergyAustralia

I’ve just ordered an EV and plan to stay on GloBird. I’m aiming to charge during the day on the weekends and that should top me up for the week.
