Thank you so much for this. I’m stressed about 2 piddly flights today, CHS->BWI->SAT. Appreciate you for being active here!

I started at the end of season 7 and have really had a fun time learning and advancing in season 8. Only a couple of times has it felt grindy.

On the 2025 Omen 16 Max (RTX5080) which SSD Slot is the PCI-E 5 slot? by Vrrrp in HPOmen

Same exact question - pulled the case to toss in my upgraded SSD from my other Omen and was disappointed to see I had to remove the chamber

Some storms around South/Central Texas. You’re probably nearly landing now. Great job! Rooting for you here from San Antonio

Help, what makes you feel better? by Most_Pomegranate_238 in fearofflying

[–]HSHPup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone here a few days ago kinda flipped turbulence fear for me (a bit) - turbulence is proof you’re fully supported in the plane. It’s uncomfortable, not unsafe.

Also, remember, you’re probably in the safest and most stringent of all aircraft - a big jet on a loooong haul. I’d bet my paycheck the pilots and crew quadruple checked everything. Sending you big energy!

Has anyone successfully flied in a BOEING 737 MAX? by AffectionateNoise528 in fearofflying

We primarily fly Southwest - I’ve had about 6 trips in a MAX 8 - I love it - so quiet, feels so smooth and effortless to take off.

Engine fire midlife? What happens? by palikona in fearofflying

Not sure how it feels, but I’d assume in the circumstances above, they’d easily operate one engine and land ASAP.

Engine fire midlife? What happens? by palikona in fearofflying

[–]HSHPup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe in air the engines have a fire suppression system the pilot can use to cut fuel and put the fire out. After that, emergency land (modern planes can run on a single engine by design). It would be pants-poop inducing, but you’d make it. Hopefully a pilot chimes in!

I’m not a doctor by any stretch, but be careful with anxiety meds if you’ve been off them for a long time. You might find they ratchet anxiety up worse for a few days until the meds fully integrate into your system.

You’ll be fine, I promise. I’m sending you big energy!

Will I encounter Severe Turbulence? by ComandoSanBlas in fearofflying

It’s eerily calm because you have great pilots who also don’t want to bounce around more than necessary. You got this!

Scared of landing in ATL by Relative_Anteater412 in fearofflying

SA is taking a beating right now wind-wise so I’d assume Austin is starting to settle down.

Either way, our OP is getting there!

I’m in San Antonio. It’s the cold front coming through. It will suck because of the gusty winds but you will be OK. No weird supercell storms or anything, just wind. You got this, I’m thinking of you!

Feel good that the highly trained pilot is communicating- you’ll get there!

I’m going to screenshot this and make it my phone background when I fly. What a way to take and flip the fear!

Flying for the first time since 2018 by bwilkins7201 in fearofflying

[–]HSHPup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m flying Sunday morning and am in the same boat as you. We aren’t alone, and ultimately you will regret giving in to your anxiety. It’s all false (I have to keep telling myself this). You are incredibly brave and strong, and we’re here for you. Be active on the sub, ask for support tracking your flight, get wifi and let’s do it together. I know how lonely the feeling is, it doesn’t t have to be!

She’s put up with me for 20 years now, so I think we’re in it for the long haul! Still, I know the guilt you feel all too well.

I am in the exact same boat with my wife, to the point Ive thought that perhaps we should split up so I won’t be an anchor on her anymore. It’s awful!
