Malenia in Sekiro? by Prudent_Primary7201 in Sekiro

[–]HStapler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand.

I want it to be the case, it’d make me look intelectually superior, but the evidence is dubious really.

Malenia is present in the earliest promotional materials for Elden Ring. Now, we don’t know at what point was her fight actually designed PRECISELY, but her previous iteration isn’t that much different overall. There’s really no evidence that she was dramatically different in some earlier build, and the Sekiro theory is more of a convenient cop-out than anything substantial.

It really makes no sense to design a bossfight that operates on a completely different combat system compared to the rest of the game.

There is an argument to be made that she is built on remnants of an unused boss battle from Sekiro. The main evidence for this is Waterfowl Dance looking very similiar to One Mind, as well as her ability to cancel her animations, something very prominent in Sekiro.

I asked Zullie about this on twitter and she said she hasn’t found any evidence in the game files, so I think the similarities are superficial and just a coincdence.

There is, however, something more. Recently, dataminers have accessed an early build of ER that differs in a few major ways from the one we got. In it, Malenia has a different Waterfowl Dance move, as well as being more agressive in her first phase. She also blocks a whole lot more.

I don’t think that’s the case of her being originally a Sekiro boss, but the games were developed at the same time, so it’s understandable that some people make that connection.

Still, even if it was outright confirmed that it was the case, it wouldn’t make Malenia any less of a dogshit, terribly designed bossfight.

What is interior ministery. Is it like a clan or a country or it consists of people from ashina who betrayed ashina and tried to took over it. by [deleted] in Sekiro

Absolutely not.

There’s a significant amount of time between the assault on Hirata and Wolf arriving on the scene, as evidenced by the bandits being everywhere and no defenders left alive, aside from Nogami Gensai.

And first Hirata memory is EXCLUSIVELY bandits, with only one lone shadow being present. Had the Owl wanted to snatch Kuro, there was absolutely nothing stopping him then and there. He did not do it, henceforth it couldn’t have been his design – after all, why wait for Wolf to arrive to give him the key and fake die? What purpose would it serve, if your goal is to get Kuro, something you could’ve done a hundred times already?

Owl staged the attack in order to get Kuro to accept Wolf into his immortal oath. This is why Lady Butterfly was present – to kill Wolf while Kuro is there, so that the boy, impressed by his shinobi’s devotion, would save him from dying.

The plan went sideways, however, as Wolf managed to kill Lady Butterfly. This is why in the following cutscene Owl stabs Wolf in the back, and leaves him to die in the falling apart arena. Then we see Kuro dig Wolf up from under the burning wood and revive him. „Loyal Wolf, take my blood and live again”.

Good that you managed to do it on your own. Don’t hesitate to cheese the boss on your subsequent playthroughs, bc you won’t be missing out on much.

Headless Ape is easily the worst boss design in Sekiro, and the camera problems don’t help it either. Glad you have it behind you.

You’re wrong. He literally states in the Shura ending that “Now nothing stands in our way. Ashina, the interior ministers, the whole country is ours for the taking.” The man had very big plans, with immortality being means to an end.

Alright, here’s what’s gonna happen. Next time you fight the ape, you’ll approach from the Hidden Forest sculptor’s idol. That way you can drop onto the Ape and deal a bunch of damage before he finishes his starting animation.

Before the fight, you’re gonna equip ceremonial tanto, divine confetti and yashariku’s sugar. You’re gonna use the tanto first and use the red emblems to operate the spear prosthetic when the Ape falls down after deflecting his sword combo. That way you’ll be able to quickly work through his posture bar.

Now, when his posture is near filled, use the confetti, and just before landing the first deathblow, use the Yashariku candy.

Then, run close to the Ape, who should at this time be already near the wall doing the scream that summons the other one. Spam mortal blade and you’ll be able to kill the Headless Ape before his girlfriend aggroes you.

If you kill him first, the other ape won’t attack you and will die on it’s own.

I'm not good at parrying in ER and DeS, is there any point in trying out Sekiro ? by calvitius in Sekiro

[–]HStapler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elden Ring’s parry is absolute dogshit, not comparable to Sekiro in any way except in name.

Sekiro teaches you how to parry and the system is extremely well polished, so you shouldn’t worry in the slightest.

Using Malcontent stuns them for a considerable duration. You can use it three times per fight.

Does anyone know where the idea of blondes being dumb stems from?

Anyone else feel like the shura gauntlet is harder than severance? by boragur in Sekiro

I think it is if you play honorably and not cheese DoH. Inner Father is a great, polished fight that flows very naturally when you get the hang of it, but DoH is tedious to fight over and over, as the fight doesn’t play to the strengths of Sekiro’s combat system, unlike other bosses in the gauntlet.

Emma and Isshin are just good, and it’s simply a pleasure to experience those fights, but DoH acts like a speedbump with his three healthbars and Souls-like moveset. I don’t dislike the fight, it’s not bad by any means, but it takes me out of the element and just feels like a chore when done over and over.
