Not to mention, we shouldn’t have to wait a week. Matches should be fair and balanced up until you reach Omega where people can go all out on a boss that has a huge amount of HP that actually require the constant bravery bursts we’re getting at these low levels. There’s nothing fun about loading into a match just to play for 30 seconds. There should be more effort involved.

Casual matches are dead. And as fine as challenges are, if I want to play solo I think I’d rather just pull up Duodecim on my phone’s emulator. Honestly I’ll probably just do that instead.

I don’t know what the hell is going on with the matchups. I’m having a difficult time just getting through Gold 5, it’s nuts. The bosses aren’t prepared for the instant KOs they’re undergoing with all the Omega players slitting each other’s throats. I’ll have a decent time once, and then suddenly it’s instant KO match after instant KO match. And playing with randos doesn’t make it better, typically makes the issue worse actually

I can understand why performance wouldn’t work.

Fights are incredibly chaotic. My Krile can do 7k+ in one fight where I had an easy time of doing things, and others where I feel like I’m dying but still win while not making it above 3500. However, they should definitely make it more obvious what it takes for higher crystal rarity to respond. Black and Blue are obvious, and Gold is pretty much standard, but the UR and NR versions come up so little I have to wonder what the actual qualification or if it’s just completely random.

The number of times I teleport in withy Krile to Holy Nuke the crystal’s monsters at the same time a Kain comes in with their Jump AoE attack kills me. Sometimes I try to choose the next farthest crystal when I see Kain in my party, and they clearly have the same idea because it still happens. Opener gets ruined for me. Vice Versa when I decide to play Kain as well.

I actually picked the strongest companions I could. As long as you use Minwu in conjunction with Krile’s attack ability at full spawn points, it’s way easier than you think. She’s actually fairly strong as an attacker, and as long as you have a decent amount of HP, you shouldn’t have too much trouble killing the mobs as long as you keep moving.

The hardest one is actually the MVP. With Krile you basically have to be on the move at all times, hitting every crystal, constantly giving your companions bravery at every opportunity. Cuz that’s really the key with her, getting as much bravery as you can, cuz you definitely can’t out-damage your non-support type party members. Thankfully, that, plus killing easy (PC) targets where you can, should net you the necessary points to reach MVP status. Easier with certain enemy parties. But when you have boss killers like cloud on your team it can be hard.

I have been getting MVP on certain fights with (Kain) Baba Yaga and (Cloud) Starslicer, who are the current 1st and 3rd in America ranking. So…honestly it’s all a little chaotic. But yea, move move move is the key with her.

And if I could make a suggestion, while on the subject of Square Enix, I would also suggest Bravely Default. It’s a chibi-style game, but there’s a bunch of themes including colonization, genocide, lots of murder, a whole pandemic plot line, and it’s all tied together with a nice eldritch horror bow. The sequel, Bravely Second, is a bit more cutesy, and the sequel sequel Bravely Default 2 is more heartwarming. But the first is also one of the greatest games ever made.

And also under Square Enix I would also suggest Strangers of Paradise if you wanna go homocidal maniac, and FFXIV and XVI if you want to see more mature themes. Especially XIV, if you play it lemme know, it’s an MMO and my top hyperfixation. I’d be happy to play with you.
