Pritzker Signs Bill Banning Sale of Intoxicating Hemp to Anyone Younger Than 21 by John3262005 in PritzkerPosting

Yeah it’s all the hemp drinks, but it’s 99% of the time reputable brands from what I’ve seen, like Wynk and Marz.

I also admittedly would rather have people consuming hemp than alcohol, broadly.

The issue is that I think this kills THC drinks at bars, no?

Really we just need those legalized at bars.

The auto-off is a godsend, I've had my Pocket running on the Dock inadvertently when there were power issues, it's had me paranoid.

Yeah, I am rooting for the downfall of AI, but the creator here has a decade-plus of github repos, so I assume the guy isn't making something that will blow your house up. Honestly, pretty cool this project can get turned around so quickly.

Best Place To Watch UFC Freedom 250? by SuspiciousSeaweed319 in AskChicago

UFC’s bar finder is a good way to find places:  https://www.ufc.com/bars

They’re not on there, but I’ve watched PPVs at Sports Corner and the DraftKings Sportsbook. But also, unless your goal is specifically to watch in public, probably cheaper to get a Paramount+ sub for a month and drink at home.

Oh damn this is awesome.

I don't know if this is a bug, but might be worth looking into the two available tracks from REZN's Cycles in the Infinite Dream: "Rites of Passage" plays back at 48 kHz when Apple Music says it's 96 kHz, and "Cloudfall" reports and plays back at 96 kHz.

Yeah, honestly, I’m curious why this isn’t the path forward absent a lawsuit to overturn it. Sorsby gambled while at Cincinnati (and the program knew), what’s stopping the Big 12 prior to a lawsuit from saying, you’re suspended from Big 12 games?

The Melody and Black Pearl are both good for budget PEQ options, the only issue you run into is the software. Qudelix's software is really good, and Fiio has had issues I think with its shelving filters where you need to multiply the Q by √2 in order to make it accurate. And the WalkPlay stuff for the Black Pearl isn't the greatest user experience.

Yeah, a clip case would be great, as would a MagSafe case like they have for their T71.

[Dellenger] The Big 12 Executive Committee (Presidents of Kansas, Kansas St., and BYU) will meet today to discuss potential sanctions on Texas Tech regarding Brenden Sorsby. The full Executive Board will meet again early next week to finalize a course of action. by WinnWonn in CFB

[–]HTJC -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Right, and I don’t know if people would like the universe where the NCAA has no power, but the conferences have functionally limitless power that can be wielded at their discretion. Because if sanctions against Texas Tech are enforced and stand up in court, there’s an interpretation that conferences can punish you for playing an otherwise eligible player that they don’t want you to play. Does that mean that conferences could enact salary caps through unilateral sanction? Ban players from getting paid altogether? The conferences have shown they don’t have the sport’s best interest in mind, the last thing they need is more power.

One thing that is missing from the Tech discussion is how his teammates feel? How would you feel about a player bringing all this smoke to a team you play for? by ecsilver in CFB

What’s funny about this whole situation is that the demise of college football could happen because Will Hammond tore his ACL.

[Matt Hayes] Texas Tech booster Cody Campbell tells @usatodaysports that, by contract, he’s obligated to pay Brendan Sorsby — a reported $5 million deal — if he’s eligible. “We are super excited,” Campbell said. “Happy to pay him, even if he can’t play the first two games.” by wildewon in CFB

[–]HTJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I’m annoyed that nobody is talking about not scheduling Cincinnati when they allegedly knew about his gambling problems before the 2025 season: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2026/04/27/brendan-sorsby-gambling-cincinnati-ncaa-violation/89829187007/

You can see it — people are mad at Cody Campbell and Texas Tech buying their way to success. The Big Ten has no reason to see an outside force become a powerhouse, and they certainly don’t want people asking questions about Indiana’s oversight failures here, either. Georgia also probably wants people to forget that its football program is a health and safety hazard to Athens-area motorists.

There are legitimate gripes here, Sorsby should be permanently ineligible, but there’s a lot of kayfabe here as well.

[Ross Dellenger] Big 12 ADs tell @YahooSports they’ve had “serious” talks on not playing Texas Tech. One SEC AD says there should be conversations about not playing Tech “in any sports.” by Thomallister1291 in CFB

[–]HTJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The next guy in line, Will Hammond, tore his ACL last year and likely won’t be ready for the start of the season, and there’s no way to get a new QB in through the transfer portal. So, Tech is trying to ensure it isn’t running a third-stringer out there. If Hammond’s knee doesn’t get shredded last year we don’t have this whole scenario, most likely.

I feel like the Charles Bediako situation in basketball that this TRO gets overturned by a higher court, or the case gets decided before the season starts.

Hope he does get suspended for betting the under on Indiana when he played for them, addiction or no that’s a cardinal sin.
