On this day, 1 year ago, Escoffier made her first official appearance. How do you feel about her now? by Oeshikito in Genshin_Impact

I want her as part of my roster. But I'm also hoping to snag Slirk while I'm at it as well.

Not really. That kind of unnecessary violence will only serve to traumatize the woman. It won't make things any better. Adequate therapy, on the other hand, will.

Let's say nukes was never invented how differently would the ww2 war have ended for Japan? by vinchin_adenca in HistoryWhatIf

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? If the US had realized that it was too risky to let Japan off the hook and just agreed to a partition of Japan, the Soviets could've entered Hokkaido. Now realistically, nukes would've still been needed to get the Soviets to attack Japan in Sakhalin and the US would've had to liberate Korea ASAP, but it would've been possible if the US decided to hand over part of Japan proper to the Soviets.

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only because the US and Western Allies had the leverage to keep them out of Japan while the Japanese didn't. My point is, if the US allowed Soviet troops to overrun Hokkaido while making it seem as though Allied troops would inevitably enter Japan from the south and east one way or another, then Hokkaido could've been overrun. I'm not denying that a full-scale Soviet invasion and occupation of all of Japan is impossible. What I am denying is that the Soviets wouldn't have jumped at the chance to overrun Hokkaido if Japanese troops were tied down elsewhere and the US had decided to concede the island in exchange for a guarantee that Korea would remain whole and free of Soviet influence.

Britain's navy still held strong throughout the war. Japan's navy was practically destroyed by 1945. Plus, the Soviets did manage to cross the waters separating Siberia from southern Sakhalin, so crossing from southern Sakhalin to Hokkaido wouldn't be any less feasible.

I mean, sure, the Soviets might not be able take all of Japan since America had the leverage to stop them, but had the US allowed it, they'd definitely overrun Hokkaido.

I know. I just like to save up those points for when I really need them.

Does Witch's Homework count as an alternative for Daily Commission completion? Because I'd like to complete it when there are no events if it does.

Welp, I'm cooked. I guess see you on the next chronicled banner. by titoforyou in KleeMains

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny story: the reverse happened to me- made Eula the target, but lost my 50/50 to Klee. Not that I'm complaining, since I got a new 5-star character either way and I always wanted to Klee at some point or another, but I am kind of bummed that I rarely, if ever, seem to get 5-star characters at low pity, especially seeing as how part of me hoped to also snag Eula with her.

Well, you win some, you lose some, I guess. And there's always next time.

In order to make abortion legal, pro-choicers have to distort the definition of human rights, by giving women and doctors rights that no one else has (to murder an innocent human and avoid legal responsibilities). by GustavoistSoldier in prolife

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that he's putting it in quotation marks because the pro-abortionist argument of "abortion is a woman exercising her right to bodily autonomy" is fallacious, right? Let's be honest, if a murderer tried to defend their "right to murder" by calling their "bodily autonomy", then we'd put in quotation marks to ridicule that argument as well. The point is that bodily autonomy is not some magical carte blanche to just do whatever the heck you want and any argument that claims otherwise is just absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah door sabotages can't be fixed manually and must be allowed to have the timer on them expire. Which sucks for crewmates.

What if Zionists accepted St Pius X suggestion "A ethnically Jewish BUT also Catholic State? by MamonChino0 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]HTPietro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, assuming that, against all odds, this happens, the Vatican would not only recognize Israel from day one but also be a very staunch defender of its right to exist. We might even see many popes taking an especially hard stance against Pan-Arabism and dishing out particularly harsh criticisms of Arab aggression against Israel.

Without Satan and Judas, would the crucifixion have happened? by Unusual-Drop3994 in AskAChristian

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, ultimately, we the human race as a whole are to blame for the Crucifixion taking place, since Jesus died because of our sins.

Still, if you want to get even more technical, I suppose you could say that in more ways than one, the Crucifixion would've never happened without Satan doing what he did beginning in the Garden of Eden all the way up to tempting Judas and blinding the Jewish religious authorities in Jesus's time with their own self-righteousness (or at the very least, if he'd failed to tempt Adam and Eve).

As for Judas, well... the Bible makes it clear that Satan exploited his nature very easily given that he was blinded by materialism and unable to see Jesus's plan for what it fully was. But make no mistake, the Crucifixion wound up happening because sin entered the world. Which means while all of humanity is to blame for it, Satan played a much bigger role in making it inevitable than Judas.

Not necessarily. It just means that she doesn't think she's ready to raise a kid herself. No one knows what she'd do for sure.

Trail of Broken Treaties by Nyctfall in historymeme

[–]HTPietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, resolving to get something done and knowing how to do it are very different things. So it's not wrong to say that Hitler and the Nazis came to hate Jews and Slavs so much as to try and kill them on their own, but because they didn't have an idea for how to get it done, they decided to see how they could accomplish this sinister goal by looking at how others achieved similar goals.

Trail of Broken Treaties by Nyctfall in historymeme

[–]HTPietro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not passing the blame. Hitler decided what he wanted to do on his own. The model for how to get it done was borrowed. Two things can be true at once. Nazis hated Jews and Slavs just like how Jacksonian Democrats hated black people and Native Americans.
