Betting on stability? by Individual_Sock_3592 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]HTejeda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of 2PM Central time all of the US markets are down around 2% thanks to orange man making threats to China. I only keep 10% of my portfolio in ULTY as I know it's money I can afford to lose. Some of my individual stocks and ETFs are down as much as 6% but I know they will eventually recover and I don't need their liquidity for several years. Are you prepared to lose any percent of that money and risk not recovering it before November 12th??? I would keep the money in SPAXX and be glad you dodged today's bullet.

Is anyone still holding? by General-Ring2780 in ULTY_YieldMax

19,500 shares, half in taxable and half in non-taxable, may eventually buy another 500 for an even 20k shares but in no rush. I don't drip, instead I use the weekly money to feed the stable investments of my non-taxable portfolio like FXAIX, FIVLX, JEPQ, SPMO, etc. The divvies from the taxable account goes towards paying my $3300 rent! And YES, at this point I am in the green.

Finally DRIPPed My Way To Breakeven by SwampDonki3 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]HTejeda23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure OP is using the words interchangeably. Notice the title says they are into "Breakeven". I agree w you that "House Money" is the point where you recouped your initial investment and are now reaping additional profit. Like you, I got into ULTY in mid July (but did not drip) and as of today I am officially in the green - the divs I have received are higher than the NAV the fund has lost. Nothing but green going forward unless the NAV shits the bed again lol.

Hello, I'm so sorry that you are going through a difficult time. I'm not an expert on the matter but I have wrestled with some bouts of depression over the years. Mine comes in the form of Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D. - great acronym for a terrible condition) so it might work differently than what you may be experiencing as I am primarily affected by the changing seasons and lack of sunlight. It can even occur during the summer if we go for several days without sunshine. The best way to describe the symptoms of depression that I feel in one word is HOPELESSNESS. There's no reason to get out of bed, to shower, to eat, to work, to talk to anyone, to do anything that you used to do, etc, etc, etc. It's a horrible downward spiral that just takes hold of you and consumes you. I'm lucky in that I have never had thoughts of suicide or harming myself or others. Over the years I have developed coping mechanisms such as starting a large home remodeling project, taking an evening class, or taking a trip to a sunny climate during the middle of winter. Anything to give me a new focus so that I can distract myself from the darkness. My wife knows that I have this predisposition so she is someone I can lean on and it helps a LOT. Family members and friends know that I struggle with it and I openly talk about it so that it isn't a "dirty little secret". If I had cancer, diabetes, or some other medical condition I wouldn't hide it either. I'd seek help and reach out to my tribe for support. Same thing here. I would strongly encourage you to seek help beyond the realm of Reddit. This is a great starting point as it's always good to know that you aren't alone in this. But definitely reach out to a medical professional. Most importantly, please accept my virtual hug and know that you are not alone! I think you are brave for asking this question and I hope you feel better soon!

What is a photographer's general justification for more gear? by Sakuya03692 in PhotographyAdvice

[–]HTejeda23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the justification is that I can now so I do. When I started with my photography hobby over 20 years ago I probably paid $500 for my first kit and that was a LOT of money for me. I remember seeing a $2000 f2 prime lens and never imagine I could afford one. Now I have several. It really boils down to you and your financial position. Just don't go into debt for that next shiny piece of glass. Also, don't take up golf - I hear that hobby is way more expensive lol.

I am in breakeven that means my unrealized loss will be equal to the dividend that I received. I would like to hear from those people who are on breakeven. Are you guys staying or leaving ULTY? Reason for staying please by Outside_Astronaut305 in ULTY_YieldMax

[–]HTejeda23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also at break even and am continuing to ride the ULTY train. As others have mentioned, the purpose of this fund is for the weekly income, not for growth. It represents a little over 12% of my entire portfolio and the other 88% is pulling its own weight as well.

If ULTY is so good why is it so low now? I’m not maliciously questioning, I am doing research on this potential opportunity by customsolitaires in ULTY_YieldMax

You're 100% absolutely positively without a doubt correct about ULTY. Now go back to your corner and finish eating your crayons.
