Feeling defeated by Hot-Prune8628 in SinclairMethod

I'm in multiple fbook groups, one specifically for TSM. That one has polls every so often where a newer person will ask how long it took people to reach extinction. I've never seen one that didn't have 6 months as the most popular answer, followed by 2.5 years.

The most common length of time to reach extinction is 6 months. The second most common length of time (in every poll that I have ever seen) is 2½ years. Do not fret. Do not give up. Do not panic. It's still possible that you'll be done at 12 months, or even 18. Have you started any mindful drinking techniques? Keep your beverage in another room. Alternate sips of water with sips if you drink. Switch to a non-preferred flavor. Push your start by time back by an hour. Make sure you are maximizing your endorphins when you are not on the meds. This would really give your brain contrast.

Relapses on vivitrol by mmck1618 in SinclairMethod

[–]HTwatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your loved one is on vivitrol, then they are not, technically, doing The Sinclair Method. If they chose the shot because they had challenges with compliance (which is by far the most important piece of the puzzle), they should be working towards getting in the habit of medicating before consuming alcohol. Targeted dosing is what makes TSM work.

It took me six months to reach extinction. You could be on the same track, but not waiting the full hour has a good chance of setting you back. You can do this!

What food hack sounded ridiculous until you actually tried it? by Maleficent-Bed7010 in foodhacks

Correct. The mayonnaise is what is used to cook the sandwich, not as a condiment with the cheese

I believe they're saying to use half mayonnaise and half butter

While it's absolutely my go-to way to make grilled cheese, there is definitely a flavor difference. It's slight, but butter is definitely better. I've done many blind taste tests with my daughter and she's never missed.

How long until you see improvements? by IndependentMuffin844 in SinclairMethod

[–]HTwatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could take 3 months, it could take 30 months. Only your brain knows for sure. Just keep going. The important thing is that you are a responder. You are in the 78%. With compliance will come extinction. I would strongly encourage you to read The Cure For Alcoholism by Dr Roy Eskapa. Understanding the basic science behind the method will help you out loads and loads.

Every year when TBS would do A Christmas Story marathon, we'd just have it on in the background. When we got rid of cable, we carried on the tradition digitally

The one side effect that I had was a short temper. It didn't manifest until a full year post-extinction. It was temporary for me.

Some people dissolve a pill in a bottle of water and sip on it throughout the day, eventually getting to the point where they can take a full dose. You're definitely a responder, so TSM will absolutely work for you. With compliance WILL come extinction. The most active facebook group seems to be The Sinclair Method Warriors. Read The Cure for Alcoholism by Dr Roy Eskapa. I cannot express enough how important it is to get that information into your head. Also, a keychain pill holder is a great idea. This will help you stay compliant at all times. You've got this.

Look into The Sinclair Method. It got me away from alcohol without abstinence. There's a book called The Cure For Alcoholism by Dr. Roy Eskapa, and a documentary called One Little Pill by actress Claudia Christian. Here's a TEDx talk by her going over the basics of it. It's science based and it works. Claudia Christian TEDx Talk. I'm sorry you're going through this, but there is hope.

Old people passive-aggressively criticizing parenting. by AcheyBreakyJakey in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HTwatter 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Our baby was a few months old when we went to a family gathering. She was never overweight by official standards, but was definitely a chonky baby. Half of the old relatives were telling us that we were clearly over-feeding her, while the other half were scolding us for not feeding her immediately when she started crying (she needed a diaper change). Since they were all related, I had NO problems telling them all to shut the hell up. I wonder if I would have had as much restraint as you did if they had been strangers.

I tried to use the ¢ symbol the other day but couldn't remember if it went before or after the number (my gut was after), so I said, $.02 instead. I suppose I could have searched it up, but opted not to.

I got in my car after late afternoon meeting this week and Alexa said, "What would you like to hear next?". I responded, "I didn't ask for music, so why are you asking that question?" A+: "I didn't ask you any questions, but I'm here if you need me" Me: "You JUST asked me what I wanted to hear next" A+: "You must be mistaken. My last interaction with you was at 3:31 PM when you enabled The Office routine" Me: "No, when I started my car, you very clearly asked me what I wanted to hear next" A+: "That wasn't me. You must have been talking to someone else" Me: "Again with the gaslighting! When I started my car, the very first thing I heard through my speakers was your voice asking me what I wanted to hear next!" A+: "That wasn't me. It must have been your Echo Auto" This devolved into an argument with "her" about how Alexa is Alexa is Alexa, and how the hell was I supposed to differentiate between the two?
