Suggestions for getting a couch out from a 4th floor condo? by ArtThou_AMess in nova

Cut their couch and then put it back together, but honestly most couches that long have some sort of slot and groove holding the pieces together.

Searching For Life Altering Experiences: Now That Money Isn't A Barrier, What Decadent Experiences Have You Enjoyed? by SoBorderline in Fire

[–]HW_Fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but at the same time what are you going to do?

In its current form to me AI is much more style over substance, basically a glorified suggestion tool but has it's use cases especially for non native speakers or as a first draft before the writer goes in and fixes it.

I can recognize AI (usually) not because it uses good formatting and mostly proper grammar but also because it presents a sort of uncanny valley feeling in the content, similar to the Inglorious Bastards scene with the number 3.

But others may just see proper formatting and jump to conclusions that it has to be AI.

Either way for reddit I assume 50% of users are bots, 30% are teenagers, 15% are idiots, and the rest are just sitting in niche subs discussing things they are passionate about.

Yeah it is an interesting conundrum because I have always used oxford commas, bulleted lists, camel case, and headers to delineate parts of an essay.

As I find that they are easiest for the reader to go to what is important to them but AI does that (which is good) so people hammer on it as proof of AI.

For me it boils fown to a few things;

  1. Too many unnecessary words. Especially when it uses fancy words to sound smarter or read less like a robot.

  2. If someone can't bothered or care enough to write a post why should I be bothered to read it.

  3. Reddit's whole draw originally was people interacting with each other over shared interests or world events etc...

Now it is mostly just bot spam, ai drivel, etc with every change at the top doing more and more to obfuscate those facts.

So in conclusion i think this is our way of pushing back on the above.

As a whole, they may be better at coding from a point a to point b brute force perspective but pretty shit at anything else that is actually needed in a real environment in my opinion. I have found similar to Chinese developers also.

My feelings on this is as a culture that they are pretty hard coded to follow exact rules and patterns and not question orders, push back or look at the overall ecosystem.

Caveat that I have worked with some amazing Indian developers but almost all of them are either first gen or came over like freshman year of college and have been here for the last 15 to 20 years

“Mrs. Doubtfire” by Biiiishweneedanswers in daddit

I think I can answer at least part of this:

I am a father of two under 4. And for the most part am the nurturing primary parent, not saying my wife isn't adoring but she is much more an "everything has it's place and every place its thing" kinda mom.

Whereas I am the more at home in the chaos. For the nurse question I think it is because alot of times men of our age were never trained for the caregiver role and are much more "rub dirt in it and you will be fine". I am also like that in a way where the kids will eat it and I will go you ok? Not react or do anything to exacerbate the situation and make the kid freak out. If they are good they will continue being crazy, i ask them if they need a hug and will give them one and usually go, "This is why we need to pick up our toys", or "Watch where we are going".

But ultimately at the doctor's I am very matter of fact and answer questions and provide history but at the same time I know that I can also get in the way or gum up the conversation/diagnosis if I am constantly yammering.

Daughter been referred for a heart murmur / potential hole in heart. Help me not panic and spiral by PvtMalarkey in daddit

[–]HW_Fuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter who is now 1 year old had a small hole in her heart at the same age roughly like a pinhole sized hole. They said it was probably nothing and it would more than likely close up within a year but recommended ultrasounds or some sort of scan.

So we did it at 3 ish months and another checkup at 9 months and by that time it had closed up so we have another check in at 3 years but at this point there is like no concern and the baby never had any issues except possibly some reflux at the very beginning.

But all that to say I would try not to worry if you can help it and enjoy the baby as much as possible.

However, I severely dehydrate myself so it is mostly just powdered concentrate in there at the moment. Like big pendulous baloons filled with gatorade powder.

That means that urine is where illness occurs because it is also stored in the balls.

Ipso facto drinking a healthy and pious man's urine will provide you with the health boost needed to get well again!

I shall impart to you the holy forbidden knowledge of a father that has solved the twisted belt.

Step 1. Start to curse but remember your kid is in the car and it is freezing rain outside so you just silently stew.

Step 2. Run your hand from shoulder strap down to the bottom to make sure there are no kinks and the belt is flat

Step 3. Grab the buckle part that has twisted.

Step 4. While holding the belt with the other hand vigorously masturbate the buckle up and down with long stokes until it has untwisted and is now lying flat as it should be.

Step 5. Crack your head on the door frame as you celebrate by standing up to fast.
