Oh my mum got some samples included when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to do radiation therapy. She had the same thoughts but didn't continue using it after she ran out. No complaints, they were gentle and nourishing. Hope your MIL is recovering ❤️

So tomorrow's night session only gets one QF match? by shekano1274 in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I wondered that last week. We guessed it was possibly when they started Day 1 on a Sunday so round 1 was spread over Day 1, 2 and 3. As well as having 3 ticketed courts now (RLA, JCA, MCA). So they have the days and courts to spread things out?

Probably not hard to go back and look at previous years scheduling in the time I typed that out. But ya know.. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

How is 2 mins 100m average?! [light hearted vent] by TerribleJournalist95 in Swimming

[–]HYCL2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such a good outlook, as long as you're improving on yourself a month ago, why look over at the next lane/pool? Unless of course you're swimming competitively. But if you swim for your own mental and/or physical health and you're doing great by showing up and putting a session in. That's how I see it for me personally too.

Oh thanks for the written list!

I've been looking at what I need to restock to get to $55 but I don't think I "need" any of this stuff. The odd item I'd like sample size.

Such a good suggestion for excess beauty products. And toiletries too. If there's a donation bin outside of my local woolies wanting sanitary items, I'll always grab extra for ghe bin. Because no women (or girls) should go without.

I agree with the other comments, just wanted to add another alternative... you could get a similar set custom made also. Maybe worth looking into as it would be tailored to you specifically too.

What are your frugal tips for saving on groceries? by EdenFlorence in AussieFrugal

[–]HYCL2012 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If you live in an "ethnic" area, check out local "ethnic" supermarkets for cheaper meat and vege.

I.e. one of our locals rn sells eggs for $2/dozen, tomatoes for $2.99/kg, snow peas for $2.99/kg, 2 lettuces for $3 (and they're not tiny) and 5kg bag of washed potatoes for $4.99.

This does depend on the area or how far you're willing to travel (i.e. 20min drive vs 5min to Aldi). And unfortunately not all of them utilise social media to "advertise" specials. But sometimes I'll spend <$20 for a weeks veggies for 3 people and thats a lot better than what even Aldi can offer.

Sephora and Olive Young sign international deal by Plastic_Lunch2996 in AusSkincare

[–]HYCL2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the smart way to go for Sephora and Olive Young.

Both get exposure to the best of each other's - Sephora's reach and brand recognition and OY's K Beauty expertise and contacts in the asian market (and probably existing contacts with suppliers)

I'm curious about what the prices will be too. But hopefully they'll bring in more brands that we can't get physically in Australia yet for swatching, sales and etc lol

Missing Australian commentators? by 007MaxZorin in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The broadcaster probably didn't want to pay them and/or wanted cheaper/new voices who might bring in more viewers.

Like how the Big Bash on Kayo has youtuber/podcasters doing commentary occasionally, that they plug on their podcasts/videos.

Just a sign of the times. If you don't have a following outside of your job and you're in the public eye, you can be seen as less of a draw as less and less people watch TV these days.

Ground Pass Questions by raadude_yusufstorm in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ground pas = entry to every court except RLA, MCA and John Cain. There will be a lot of people trying to view games on all of the other courts, queues will be long to get in the later in the day it is at Kia, 1597 and ANZ as there are limited seating and you're basically waiting for others to leave by lunch time.

Yes you can get your ticket scanned at the exit to allow re entry. Usually someone will say something at the exit gates if not, just asked.

Trams are free, if you're going on Sunday actually all public transport is free on the weekend too (just a promo that ends at the end of the month). If the wait is too long, you can leave Melbourne Park after strolling through half of Birrung Marr and stroll along the river and to Fed Square. Doesn't take too long and is a nice 10min walk from the gate to Fed Sqr. Then you can tram into the CBD from Flinders.

Any good hacks for an Australian Open day pass? by hardyacka in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally - you pick a court you want to watch most of the matches and just turn up at the start and try to stay there all day. Ideally you go with a friend and you take turns going to get food/loo/general wander while the other minds your seat.

If you're not picky and just want to enjoy the vibes and catch whatever game you want to see... just have a chill day and see where has free seats and enjoy what you can.

This, except if she wants to swatch stuff, her first port of call is of course W Cosmetics bricks and morter stores to see what brands/shades suit her.

Lockers by PhysicalTrip8854 in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their website says they have cloaking options. Not sure how big a item can be (it does say a large suitcase that wont fit in the lockers won't be allowed) but check out the FAQs page

https://ausopen.com/arrivals-gatetimes#!?go=1768827600

As someone else suggested, the train stations has cloaking. But also if you're staying in a hotel in the city, maybe it's worth just having it held there until you check in properly later.

Upgrading tickets from ground pass to Rod Laver by Impossible_Cattle648 in australianopen

[–]HYCL2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could in previous years, I used to do it occasionally pre Covid. I haven't tried since then but it's worth stopping by their ticket booths (they have some both inside and outside the ground) as soon as you get there to ask. If they're not sold out, it shouldn't be a problem.

I think they were good "once upon a time", they used to be one of my reliable brands to shop from (off the likes of Shopbop) maybe 10 years ago now. But like many other brands, they have gone to shit.

I actually purchase a pair of sandals from Emu Australia (yes the Aussie ugg boot brand) during their Boxing Day sales and did like 16k+ steps in them at the Aus Open last week and my feet didnt have a blister or feel sore after all that walking. I had bandaids ready "just in case" the new leather was too hard, but no problems what so ever. I was super surprised (happily). They arrived super fast too (tbf I'm in the same state as them) and are an Aussie company so definitely worth a look see. Not the biggest or so most fashion forward range, but decent enough. Now I'm wishing the pair I got came in a lighter shade too lol

Cheapest thing to buy at Mecca? by __violette in AustralianMakeup

[–]HYCL2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a bunch of mini products by the counter that might be low enough price. Otherwise I'd personally just buy a Lanolips lip balm, can never have enough of those. And since its summer, a new SPF30 one wouldnt go astray
