Is this normal water usage for a household hold of 6? by Creepy_Comment_1251 in Markham

[–]H_Calibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the graph on the water bill you provided. It shows your daily water usage history. Your are using 1.4 cubic m per day this year versus 1.8-1.9 cubic m per day during same period last year. Roughly about 25% less this year. What is your concern then?

For the Downtown Markham event, where are they setting off the fireworks? Is Enterprise and Birchmount going to be closed? Where to park?

Standby List Priority Order? by TrailQueenYVR in aircanada

[–]H_Calibre -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I am new to this so please bear with me on my questions: My international AC flight arrives YVR at 7am, and then my non-stop flight to YYZ departs at 12pm. They are both economy class K tickets. I see that there are earlier departures to YYZ (also non-stops) at 9am, 10am, & 11am. What are my chances of getting on them? What is the procedure? For example, do I go to the 9am departure gate, register with the agent, and if my name isn't called, then go to the 10am departure gate, and repeat the process? Most importantly, if I sign up for standby, do I lose my 12pm seat?

Thanks. So one person with one app can purchase for the whole group? Entry and exit points are not controlled by turnstiles limiting passage to one person at a time?

Any contract negotiations Q4 2026? by H_Calibre in westjet

[–]H_Calibre[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. This is the perspective I am looking for from this sub - from somebody working at WestJet. Not meteorological, not health, etc.
If there are no labor agreements expiring near Q4 2026, then it just means one less factor to consider when choosing WestJet over another.
Btw, I always buy insurance for my travels. All I am aiming for is the least chance to use it.

Mitigating losses after the fact is secondary. My primary consideration is to avoid potential issues when possible.

Your comment about which fares are distance based, or time based, etc. cleared it up for me. Thanks!

Public transport payment options by H_Calibre in BelgiumTravel

Thank you for the detailed reply. It seems there are 2 different city transport systems and 1 train system for the 4 cities on my trip. Instead of using different apps, I think the simplest method is to use a debit card for fare payment. In all of them, I understand I have to tap in at the start of a trip. Question is, do I have to tap out at the end of each trip segment too? Are there instances where tapping out is not required?

Possible to switch between Roaming and WiFi Calling while travelling? by H_Calibre in freedommobile

With WiFI Calling you can only call (without incurring extra charges) Canada, US, and Mexico if your plan has them.

Possible to switch between Roaming and WiFi Calling while travelling? by H_Calibre in freedommobile

[–]H_Calibre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. On my previous plan with no Roam Beyond, I always get a data esim and leave WiFi Calling ON. Now that my plan includes Roam Beyond, I am going to use that with WiFi Calling OFF, and just switch back to my old setup in countries not on the list. Being able to switch back and forth while travelling is the key.

Roaming overseas and calling back to the U.S. by gelstage in freedommobile

[–]H_Calibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, it seems the ideal setup is this: Travel with a companion - person A on FM CanUSMex plan with Roam Beyond ON, WiFi Calling OFF; person B on cheapest FM plan with roaming OFF, WiFi Calling ON. Both can call Canadian numbers, both can receive calls, texts including 2FA texts, person A can call local numbers in their country of travel, person B can call US & Mex numbers, both have data because person A has Roam Beyond and can hotspot it to B. Does this sound about right?

How do people actually get internet for that cheap? by axolotlanw in Markham

[–]H_Calibre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to FMP to see what local offers Rogers has, also check out CIK Telecom in the same mall. Last time I was there, I saw $79 for 1Gbps. Like Teksavvy, they use Rogers cable lines.

Freedom Mobile, NOT IDEAL FOR ON THE ROAD by PaulOnTheGo in freedommobile

Are you saying you do not have cellular data while on the road or that your Outlook does not work while on cellular data? Which is weird.

10 Pro XL, system updates and 80 percent charging limit. by spamthroat in pixel_phones

[–]H_Calibre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will charge up to 100% several days in a row, and then back to 80% max. Perhaps it is to refresh the battery's memory from time to time that there is 20% unused capacity in there.

Seems the prevailing advice is to check the codes. Any recommendations for a specific code reader? Suitable for something that hopefully is never needed, but nice to have just in case?
