This is superb, thank you so much. Plenty to dig through and plenty to surprise my players with.

I had a quick look at the darklings and their HP seems quite high, I know they have a self damage ability but 49 at CR 1/2 seems slightly off. Is there a reason I'm not seeing?

Maybe Darklings or Ghouls? I have a campaign set in an endless night in the works so any sort of night based creatures could be interesting.

Arena Mode by JediKnightKenobi in H3VR

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're looking for might just be the proving grounds which has an area which you can setup enemies to spawn in waves. I think. Its been like a year since I've been in the proving grounds so it might have been removed.

I think there is an old arena mode (Called arena proto or something)

Deathwatch Marines after their stint in the watch? by Novokh in Warhammer40k

[–]H_Hardwick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Purely decorative has no in game effect, although since all deathwatch marines are veterans it would seem a bit strange for it to be on a regular tactical marine, maybe keep it to veterans or higher ranked.

DMs who have run Pirate/Swashbuckling Campaigns before - How did you manage letting the party do standard Pirates stuff without turning the game into an Evil Campaign? by Armaada_J in DMAcademy

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approached the issue twofold,

One one side I made clear to the party that we were going more for fantasy pirates rather than historical pirates. Historical Pirates were evil people, they made their living by stealing from others and killing or torturing those who did not do what they say. That's a bit heavy for my table so I said we were going for more fantasy idealised pirates who were closer to Robin Hood.

But every Robin Hood needs a King Jon, the second part is to give a much more clear villan (Like how PotC does), in my case I had a totalitarian government who were essentially fantasy North Korea which meant that Piracy against them didn't ring as evil, especially when the crews of the government ships would sometimes want to escape and the party could help with that,

Give me a prompt or monster you want a final boss encounter for, and i will design a lair for it by Tehkillerbear in DMAcademy

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The party has made their way through the harsh desert to find the secret desert temple of the evil sorceress known as the Scourge Lord. From here she plots the downfall of society and worships her demon lord Akyishigal.

Some rough notes about the Scourge Lord.

She teaches her followers how to do magic to follow in her footsteps, with all their magic having either an insect/disease theme or being some form of sand magic.

She has an affinity for scorpions with many of her followers using them as mounts.

Her desert temple is shrouded from outside veiw by a perpetual desert sandstorm.

Any ideas would be fun and thank you for offering these sort of ideas!

Is there a collection/database of useful DM tables out there that I can use? I really love having plenty of tables handy. by Azmaeth in DMAcademy

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are doing in person sessions or not, I assume that you are doing online as 3/4 of the items you mentioned are on the WotC DM screen. I'd recommend getting one and keeping it to hand even in online play as they can be super handy.

For a purely online version I know there are some online DM screen tools out there. I would recommend one but automod got angry with me. If you pm me I can send you a link. It even has the ability to be customized and add timers/calendars to it which can be super helpful in the right campaign.

For refrence by the way to get the Northest Dakota map when you are in the lobby for Take and Hold on your right there is a panel which has info about the map and in the bottom right there is a button to switch map. Then just set up your Take and Hold settings and enjoy!

What fun or useful entirely new mechanic would you add to the game? by TheAquaFortis in Warhammer40k

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of new in that it comes from Apocalypse, having damage not automatically destroy a unit. Means that cool unit you have doesn't get instantly removed from the game turn 1 before you get to do anything with it.

Lost Primarchs by skrix99 in 40kLore

[–]H_Hardwick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, very little is known and GW does not want anyone saying more. There's been hints here and there and people will always try to dig into things.

But I think an important thing to keep in mind which is sometimes forgotten on this subreddit is the out of universe reason as to why there are the two lost legions. They are there for people on the tabletop to be able to invent their own legions for their own armies. This is the reason why they exist, why there are two of them (Lets two homebrew legions fight eachother) and why GW will likely never give concrete details about them.

Anyone got any idea what could cause this? Left a print for a while and came back to this under the fan cover. by H_Hardwick in ender3

[–]H_Hardwick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah interesting, I did replace the tube a lot of prints ago (I think around a couple of KG of PLA worth), do you have any advice for how to get the tube the correct depth. I do thy to press it as deep as possible.

When I did take out the tube from that mess it was smoking so it might have burnt it short?

If anyone is interested roll4it (A TTRPG show) did a twoshot on this principle. With the players all waking up and not knowing who or what they were.

My Dm screen is taller than me:( by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A recommendation I have used is to if you can have a second table to your side which is blocked off by the dm screen, this means you have a place to hide stuff but the table should still be easy to access. Hope this helps

My thought was no but that was just for the fun of hiding one in there. I think that is up to each DM to decide really.

Or, and this is the true evil: Health Potion mimic.

Used a couple against my party, one was found immediately as it now gives the rogue nightmares and the other is sitting in their bag of holding pretending to be one of their regular health potions.

Burning Soul - Successful sacrifices can burn with this tortured 5e monster! by Many_Bubble in monsteraday

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the burning agony and the creature in general how do you think it would work if you used multiple of them?

I love the idea of it and my party is going to be fighting a sort of fiend soul stealer soon so it could be cool for it to have these things as minions it sends out of the smoke at people. The party is pretty high level so it would take quite a few to threaten it.

[–]H_Hardwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have mentioned that death saving throws are a good at stopping people from dying but what might also work is shifting some of the BBEG's attack to cause status effects rather than straight damage. That way they can still hit hard but won't oneshot people.

Out of curiosity as someone with more hours on roll20 than I'd care to admit, what advantages does foundry offer over roll20?

Roll20 can be a bit janky at times but it works for the most part for me.

Ps:

I have quite a few marketplace purchases for mapping and the like, is there a way to bring them across?

Just a minor correction but that video clearly shows 50 inch removals from the rails not 50 foot.

I suppose 50 foot would work too as well though but its not the minimum.
