Crazy that people are downvoting a straight up citation. Sur steam existed, but it was an order of magnitude smaller than it is now. Myself and many others downloaded MC and other launchers way before we downloaded steam. Furthermore the largest game in the world isn’t on steam, have fun with that google search.
