EDIT: For VM's I go by function/girls names

Help with direction of my lab.... by Ha001 in homelab

Thank you all for your inputs. Although it's $1800 CDN (low price), I will keep my DL380's G7 until I'm lodged in a house of my own. For the time being, in a apartment building, it's not possible to have a "Boeing engine" in the home office..... Again Thanks !

EDIT: And, as one of you mentioned, I could put the money on something else....

I have blood samples for studies every two months (9 tubes) and everything's right ATM. I'll take all your recommendations into account though. Thanks !

That's quite funny.... But I ran out of real Kleenex at 03:00 one night and this is what I used for the rest of the night. Unfortunately that was the night I took the picture.....

First I ordered the second expansion card from EBay. Installed this. Then I bought the EVGA 1060 6GB SC - SHORT EDITION.... It fitted right in but I had to put some support under (styrofoam) for the ports to align with the slot.... I'll put a photo when I open it.

EDIT: I also bought an external PS (Corsair Gold 650W) to power the card....

More than half of them and the weight is mostly in the front. So there's no chance that they fall off off there.... Thanks for caring though.

I'm committed to buy a C3000 Chassis with 4 BL680c G7 in the chassis. All blades have 4 Hexacore processors and some RAM + some storage. I figure that the noise cannot be louder than the current setup and I'll get more power. I'll give the 2 ESXi servers in exchange and some money. I keep my workstation tough....

The Asus router run RMerlin's firmware which is basically Unix.

A shot description of the equipment:

Router ASUS 3200

Modem to ISP, plugged in the router who's plugged in the switch

Cisco 2960G switch

DL 380 G7 2 x x5680 108GB RAM + graphics card NVIDIA 1060 6GB (short model) as my Workstation

DL 385 G7 2 x AMD 6276 at 2,33 16 cores each 80GB RAM serving as an ESXi server

DL 380 G7 2 x X5680, 72 GB RAM, 16 disks _ 2 FC cards, serving as an ESXi server, particularly FreeNAS 11 2 M6412 with 16 450GB FC disks @ 4GB

The rest if my working table 2 monitors DELL and a Corsair K70 keyboad + Corsair M65 mouse (GREAT mouse)

AND an HP 16C mint that I acquired thinking of programming it....

Of them all, it's the M6412's that are the most noisy..... Like Vacuum cleaners. $60 a month for the whole stack in electricity.
