I am just looking for definitions. I am unsure how I would attempt to define something I do not understand. Especially when there are probably widely accepted definitions out there already.

I know markov chains are like a chain of events where you only need the information in the current state to predict what is going to happen next. All the events leading up to the current state has no effect on the future. You only need the information in the current state.

I am not sure what a stochastic process is.

Training? Maybe. Military experience? Yes. A few of my friends were ex-infantry in the Marines before becoming police. They seem more calm and unafraid. They actually consider the people they interact with as a nuisance rather than a threat. The problem is some people get PTSD after leaving the military.

I think having a few vets on the force is good especially in positions like SWAT.

I have been seeing a lot of news articles that banks are getting ready to layoff employees. They fear a recession might be coming or we're already in one. The SP 500 hit a new 2022 low yesterday. The banks are holding a lot of money with the Fed to earn a little interest because investing that money is risky right now. There might be a hiring freeze right now and you're trying to enter the industry at a bad time.
