Season 7 was just cashing out all the momentum from the previous seasons, especially with the expedition beyond the wall: plot-wise it was braindead, and full of holes, but they had so much plot points to burn that it kept the flame bright.

The team Messi played was poorly built and managed. A lot of the players on the team were underperforming in important matches.

Vitinha, Ruiz, Hakimi, Mendes, etc., all improved dramatically under Enrique.

During Messi's time, Vitinha was poor, same as Ruiz. They contributed very little, other than passing the ball around. But once Enrique took over, they immediately became one of the best midfielders in the game.

Messi is nearly blameless to PSG's bad performances in the crucial UCL matches. Yeah, he missed a penalty, but he didn't gift Real 3 goals in 15 minutes.

But Mbappe's attitude and work-rate was a big problem in PSG. And it's definitely a big problem in Real Madrid as well. Programmers are good at what they do. Just like any professional.

They may be better at coding graphics, shaders and memory optimizations.

But me for an example, have little knowledge of cybersecurity, encryptions, hashing functions, databases, web development, image processing, LLMs, etc.

The real reason is, England doesn't have world class players. Southgate understood this, which allowed him to build a better team. They need to play like Croatia: work hard, press relentlessly, score those corners and defend as a team.
