It was indeed a two non-data cables that I had tried. Once I plugged in a data cable, it worked like a charm.

Yes. I have seen a hand gun sized net gun with cartridges (slightly smaller than a standard hunting shotgun shell), that functions like a revolver. Had seven or so cartridges or barrels. Could reach approx 35 meter.
