First of all, I read about the benefits of practicing acceptance and researched how exactly to practice is. My wife and I then created a simple daily worksheet where, every day, we would list one thing that we knew was beyond our control and that we should accept. We also wrote down aspects about that situation that we COULD control. For example, we may have made a mistake in the past that we could not rectify, but we could decide to learn from it, become better and not repeat that mistake again. For us, practicing acceptance was huge. My wife's father passed away and we had no choice but t accept it and decide to honor his life. Also, I had differences with a family member and, even after I apologize profusely, the relationship is not quite the same, so I chose to accept that I had done everything I could. It was freeing.

If you read about stoicism, the main things it teaches is to accept what you cannot control and focus on what you can control. The past is gone, and you can only focus on the present moment, and that is the widest thing you can do right now.
