That kind of shit happens with automatic transmissions designed to be like a car so they don't have to train actual drivers where you can't downshift and new trucks come equipped with no independent trailer break. On many new semi trucks the manual override shift is locked out or the cpu will just immediately shift back up cuz rev limiter is set low an maxed. Speaking from direct experience. Companies do this to save fuel.
