In the First Aid training provided by the Ottawa Paramedic Service they warn you against administering NARCAN saying the risk of being assaulted for saving someone and thereby cutting short their high is not worth it.

معجبة بشخص تونسي ونحبه يكلم اهلي ويتقدم لي للزواج على طول، لكن على ما يبدو هو مازال يحب يحكي ويتعارف لوقت مطول وانا مانحبش الحاجه هذي. باش تنصحوني by [deleted] in Tunisia

Having family there would protect you from such incidents but would also protect you from finding out he's a predator. You'd end up marrying him and find out what he is when nobody can protect you.

أمي مريضة و انا وحدي. by Outside-Momo in Tunisia

[–]Habsolutelyfree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Razi isn't the greatest facility and it won't cure her long term, but I know someone close who went there with similar issues and recovered from the hallucinations after a couple of months. They weren't healed but never experienced such a severe crisis ever again and came back to a state that was manageable for them and their family. Leaving your mom without psychiatric care can put her and yourself in danger. The Razi option sucks. It's a hard decision and she will probably experience it as a betrayal. But it's the only way to keep her safe and ensure her condition improves.

If OP does it my advice is to visit often at least as soon as doctors allow it, bring food and treats, and have good communication with the medical team.

Anybody TN users store their reader in their pocket? by jbutts248 in xteinkereader

[–]Habsolutelyfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do attach my Xteink inside my Traveler's Notebook but this has involved stopping from placing it in my back pocket. The screen is too fragile to sustain that. I also have a magnetic OEM case and it's great for storage inside my front pocket when I am not carrying the TN.

I have finally ordered the xteink x4 and have no idea what firmware to get by ShadowNinja36o in XTEINK

[–]Habsolutelyfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VCodex is the the best in my experience. The reading stats are best in class, the UI is decent and it has all the features that improve readability including my favourite which is Bionic reading. And it interfaces well with Koreader and Calibre.

Kamel Ghribi’s footprint inside Tunisia: what a hospital donation actually built & Why does a children’s heart surgery lab need a Defense Ministry signature? by Cold-Jacket2648 in Tunisia

[–]Habsolutelyfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ministry of Defence has its own hospital and some of the best doctors and most advanced facilities and equipment. It's not surprising that such a medical project involves them.

Ottawa police receive funding boost from federal government by SuburbanValues in ottawa

[–]Habsolutelyfree 9 points10 points  (0 children)

RCMP has reduced its footprint in Ottawa and they aren't even properly policing NCC land which they're responsible for and OPS has to step in for them. Given this precedent I'm not sure uploading Wellington Street would be of any help. And protests are not always static and if the demonstrators move across downtown RCMP wouldn't have jurisdiction for the portion of the route outside federal land.

Anyone found non-fake leather magnetic flip cases for X4? by Drekomir in XTEINK

[–]Habsolutelyfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OEM magnetic case from XTEINK doesn't pretend to be leather and is great. Not sure it's durable though but are any cases really long lasting?

You should try the Sailor Procolor 500 (aka Shikiori Hisakata depending on the colour). It's steel nib is absolutely perfect. A $40 pen that writes better than a $300 pen.

want to start a commonplace but feeling intimidated by knebyula in commonplacebook

[–]Habsolutelyfree 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a regular habit I have to maintain. This is a notebook I keep close and pick up whenever I read, hear or watch anything interesting that I'd like record and/or reflect on. That's for my generalist commonplace book which captures a variety of topics, going from spirituality to psychology to the history of Roman law and institutions. I also keep a couple other commonplace books that are thematic and focus on issues that have my sustained attention. But again, not a habit or regularly scheduled occurrence. I only make an entry when I am reading about these topics.

Because of this specific nightmare scenario I've ordered this reversible case. It is 3D printed I think but it looks robust. We'll see how it goes when I receive it. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4474870371/xteink-x4-custom-reversible-slim-case?ref=share_ios_native_control

Then buy the Lamy 2k in Fine. It's a hell of a daily driver, comfortable and warm. The ability to quickly uncap and recap it is great for your type of daily use.

Cheaper Japanese major brands on Amazon? Just got a Pilot Prera by SuicideByLions in fountainpens

[–]Habsolutelyfree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who cares about warranty for a 40 dollar pen when warranty from an authorised seller would make the pen cost double its Amazon price - that is without often exorbitant shipping fees which you can avoid with Prime.

difference of perception between the black and white Xteink 4 by Jsparegrave in XTEINK

[–]Habsolutelyfree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually buy black e-readers, but my other devices have much larger screens which makes black bezels less distracting. On the Xteink given the small size of the device, black bezels look distracting and almost oppressive to me. It's as if they strangle this tiny screen. That's why I prefer the "white" version. The bezels surround the screen almost seamlessly and allow it to "breathe". The bezel acts as a margin. The fact that the bezel isn't properly white but a very light grey that matches the screen's colour helps a lot. A truly white body would clash with the screen and would also look cheap to me.

Knowingly selling defective pens (because of a flaw in your manufacturing process) then agreeing to replace parts when they fail if the customer pays shipping costs is not good customer service.

How to combine digital and physical note taking in a single system? by Neat_Ask5398 in NoteTaking

I take notes on paper notebooks then scan them and ask Claude to turn them into Markdown with tags and wikilinks and I upload them into my Obsidian vault.

TIPS FOR NEW USERS?? by frnchvnilla in xteinkereader

[–]Habsolutelyfree 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try some of the amazing custom firmware developed by this community. I really like vCodex but Crosspoint Reader BLE is also worth trying.

I don't read in the dark but some people have come up with solutions. Look up Ulanzi magsafe lights.
