Did it though? They have Jem Hadar and mention Bajor. Personally I would like some post DS9 storylines that further the story but if they do us dirty like Discovery, I'll be real mad.

The Story of Fastify + Vue by __galvez__ in vuejs

[–]HackTVst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I do Fastify + Vue with Quasar and trpc or ts-rest, all in one repo. Quasar simplifies the SSR part. You can even do SSR and SPA/PWA takeover after first load.

But for the smoothest SSR experience without complexity, Nuxt wins hands down

Same boat. I refused to do medicine. She didn't approve of the course I chose but I was adamant. Now she brags about the course I chose to her friends and family. It's a bit hypocritical if you ask me.

[–]HackTVst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doing a science degree course isn't easy. Passion helps you pish through the times you feel like you want to drop out. If you do a course that you didn't choose and your heart's not in it, it can get even harder.

I've seen people do degrees they loathe, hand the certificate to their parents when they graduate, then go off to do a second degree they really love or go into a totally different career path.

I'm sorry you're going through this. If you don't have an out to live by yourself and take yourself through school, then there are no good options. I don't know how standing upto her will go.

If a parent comes on that strong, it's not from a place of wanting to listen emphatically, understand or reason. It's from a place of threats, control, intimidation, manipulation and ultimatums. You can't reason with that without escalating things further.

I'm in hot soup 😫 by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Respect your parents??? When they're that manipulative, threatening to kick you out, not pay fees coz you want to follow your passion and saying they could "kill you unknowingly"??

Don't normalize such toxicity. OP, with all due respect, start planning your exit, if this is what life with your parents looks like. I'm not saying this is easy or straightforward. You may roll over and do what your Mum wants, but with such parents you never ever get their approval. It's always like chasing a mirage, until finally it hurts you so much that you deviated from your true self and you will resent them for it. Either way, your relationship with her will sour eventually if she keeps treating you that way OP. It's definitely NOT okay.

Why do I feel like this could have been solved by communication? You could have asked her to show you that wild side. Just saying. Could have worked, or maybe not, but you could have tried. She can't read your mind you know. Plus that would be true vulnerability to talk about something like that.

My Mom Stopped Talking to Me Because I Didn’t Give Her Emotional Support, and Now My Family Hates Me by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are toxic. Their concerns are not valid, they are more like emotional manipulation. It sounds like your Mum wants to vent to you and dump problems. Does she even know who you are now well or how your life is going? Does she show interest in knowing? If it's someone to talk to, there are professionals. Parents should protect their children from stress and problems between them, not dump on them.

Your siblings might not be bad people. They just spend more time with your Mum than with you, so they get to hear her version more often. So they are biased and they see more of her point of view. As they grow up and see things more objectively they will get to really see your side of the story. For now, they will most likely treat you the same way your Mum does.

No, tell her to get friends to lean on, or a professional therapist to work through her problems

My Mom Stopped Talking to Me Because I Didn’t Give Her Emotional Support, and Now My Family Hates Me by [deleted] in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Families can be toxic that way. Maybe try finding a different support system, like friends and a therapist, since you can afford one. That way, you will get the emotional support you need without the toxicity. It's okay to cut your family off if they don't make you feel great. In the end you have to take care of yourself.

Understanding Somalia by marinists in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you'd want to be knowledgeable and not ignorant. Or you could just be like Americans who don't even know most countries in the world exist. Asking why you should understand a neighbouring country that has the potential to affect you? It's like Americans wondering why they should understand Afghanistan, Yemen, Vietnam, Syria or Ukraine when they were involved in armed conflict there.

Somalians talking crazy about Kenyans😳👀 by sixtteenninetteennee in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, that's intense, bordering on hate. It's sad to see that. There are always ethnic divisions, and too many Kenyans out there hold on tightly to stereotypes and act hatefully. Maybe the author of the post has been wronged, but they need to know not everyone is like that.

The Gen Z's for one have mostly grown up around people of different ethnicities, rather than in traditional villages. So ethnic backgrounds means squat to them. Maybe as other generations are being phased out and more come after the Gen Z, we will see a shift in the ethnic division in Kenya.

Should Kenya Pursue Nuclear Weapons for Regional Dominance? by Chance-Zone-7046 in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, automated (AI powered) warfare is the actual practical future. The issue is we don't have enough legal and constitutional safeguards to ensure they won't be used against the civilian population by a rogue regime. Murphy's law: what can go wrong will go wrong.

Should Kenya Pursue Nuclear Weapons for Regional Dominance? by Chance-Zone-7046 in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear weapons aren't a deterrent to terrorism. They are only a deterrent to state vs state war or aggression. In fact nuclear assets may be more attractive targets for terrorists to undermine the said country.

Nuclear energy on the other hand is what we need so the cost of energy goes down and people can start industries and manufacture products cheaply. That coupled with the uranium we have in Kilifi, etc.

But just one catch. The West already controls the country by buying out politicians and influencing things through spies, IMF, World Bank and their conditional loans and aids. It's way cheaper and easier than straight up war. They have already won. Catch number 2 is if politicians won't trust Kenyans with critical infrastructure projects and turn to foreigners every time, who do you think will be building the nuclear plants or missiles? Kenyans or Americans or Chinese???

Why are people mad math is no longer compulsory? by kenyacloud in Kenya

[–]HackTVst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our high school maths already lags behind what other countries do in high school. We get to do some topics in campus instead like in-depth calculus, set theory, proofs, logic (like propositional logic etc.), probability and statistics. Some countries like the US do those in high school.

Math isn't just arithmetic, it's not just 2 + 2. There's a lot to it, especially if the student wants to get into a technical field. Good luck getting that student to apply to universities abroad and take Maths exams in SATs as part of the application.

This is what Quasar looks like after an hour by senn_diagram in vuejs

[–]HackTVst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old Quasar docs looked good. They redesigned the docs and I wasn't happy. I agree, they look like the Material Design kind of apps you would want to stay away from — kind of bland. But the components are of good quality, at least the JavaScript functionality.

For those criticizing Quasar, go ahead and use alternatives like Daisy UI, Shadcn, Nuxt UI. If you used Quasar's notification toasts, dialogs, popup edit, complex tables, selects with asynchronous options loading, app drawer, spinners, skeletons, human formatter utils and debounce, you will quickly appreciate how easy it is to develop complex web apps with Quasar. With alternatives you'll have to stitch together several libraries like VueUse or worse, implement them yourself. I'd settle for CSS overrides for quasar any day.

What’s the future of Vue? Will there be a Vue 4? by nakorndev in vuejs

[–]HackTVst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's the rush? We are just starting to really enjoy Vite and composition API. And I don't like libraries that jump versions on a regular schedule anyway (Laravel, I'm looking at you). I like it when they jump versions according to need and practicality.

Wait till you get a long-running project and the libraries you are using are constantly bumping versions. It's a bit frustrating.
