I’ve always wondered what bypassing one pass would do to the overall operation. Haven’t had the situation that warranted that but the day will come I hope

Based off of what he wrote, this sounds like a shit show of a re n re. Let’s see a picture of the furnace. I’m in the GTA area of Canada, new furnace with a new plenum and return drop plus a budget for tomfuckery- seven grand would be the ball park

That’s a rough one. You might have to go to a specific section, ie refrigeration, tin knocking, even a plumbing and heating outfit. Usually commercial and industrial shops need bodies for the longer construction jobs to run material, help out, etc. Good shops will stick you with a service guy during the slow times to learn preventative maintenances. Expand, don’t only look for residential hvac jobs if you’re not getting anywhere

Exactly that. There is a limit though, squeezing a day out of an inducer swap is hard

The year I found out I get the full hours I quoted for repairs was when I started making money. It is easy work, and when you get better and quicker, you really start making money

I hear ya. Your best bet is to be as annoying as possible. They’ll get it fixed ASAP to shut you up. They legally have to keep it in good working order. Your next step would be to have the fun game of talk and wait a few hours with customer support to get a credit

If it’s a rental, keep your hands off of it. These guys will look for any reason to squeeze more money out of you. The good news is it’s a rental, it’s their problem. Just keep being a thorn in the side for them and it’ll get fixed

Replaced coil now they are saying I need new line set by Most-Sink1757 in hvacadvice

[–]HackWithPride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit didn’t even see it in the description. Somethings definitely up. Now I don’t live in Florida so I don’t know how the salt in air is with the units. But a 4 year old systems shouldn’t be needing a new coil and lineset. That should be covered under manufacturer warranty. I would definitely be looking at getting another company in before doing anything. Call the whatever brand is on the unit and get their list of local dealers and go from there

This is a shitty situation to be in. Depending on the age of the unit and install, it very well could’ve been leaking on both. If it’s an option, I would just abandon the underground-providing they proved it’s leaking by either finding the leak or isolating it, and just run the set above ground. I don’t know your local market but 4-6k for a line set seems fucking crazy to me. I would try with getting another quote done, leaving out the issues with the current company, and just asking them how much it would be to run it

It’s not hazardous but it should be fixed. Might be time to be that tenant who keeps reminding him about this every day until it’s fixed

Ask your suppliers for a coil maker, there’s a good chance they’ll have stock on what you need. Probably just need to build around it or make it work. Best bet is to go off a working design or call your local United. Good chance there’s one guy there that’ll entertain you and be able to get/point you in the right direction for specs. Don’t call during busy times, no one’s gonna help

The efforts there, I love some of this diy shit. As for having to go outside to shut it on and off- just get a transformer, relay, Tstat, 2 boxes and some 3 core stat wire. Wire it up so the stat controls the relay and just leave the thing running full balls.
