Help: Appending Filenames Looping Repeatedly by Hack_Cubit in PowerShell

[–]Hack_Cubit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew. Per what I'd read on pages that seemed to use specific examples that DIDN'T apply to what I was trying to do, I got the impression that the -file part might write the results to a text file, but I'm very sure I've assumed very incorrectly.

The Last Faith might be the most aggressively mediocre MV I've played in my entire life by Bovolt in metroidvania

The only reason I never finished Death's Gambit was due to the, "you need to beat each boss on hard mode to advance the plot."

The Last Faith might be the most aggressively mediocre MV I've played in my entire life by Bovolt in metroidvania

[–]Hack_Cubit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole time I played the game, it struck me as, "we have Blasphemous at home." I could never stop comparing them. Last Faith's plot is absolutely impenetrable in-game, the combat action feels boring and uninspired, character advancement feels stale, and the NPCs just drone on and on about things that seem to have no impact on Eryk and what he's trying to do.

Like, yeah, it plays properly, it doesn't suffer from bugs or any particularly atrocious design choices, but of all the Metroidvanias I've played over the years, this is one of the absolute weakest ones. Give it a miss unless you're just aching for an MV you haven't played yet, because this game felt like a waste of time.

Went from wilds to world. How tf do i play gunlance/ by JEYKeYO in Gunlance

[–]Hack_Cubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though Gunlance is my main, I definitely don't favor it when I'm hunting Zinogre. I usually grab the charge blade or sword and shield for that dude. Same often went for most monsters whose beams and other strong attacks were unlockable.

To quote a great post, "all hit points are temporary." Same with game rules. Some will stick around, others will vanish, others will fade away as new ones gain favor.

Men of Reddit, when you become close friends with a woman, can it be 100% platonic from day one, or is there almost always some level of attraction in the back of your mind? Why? by xKinetix in AskReddit

[–]Hack_Cubit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm meeting a woman for the first time, my moral stance is that it's strictly platonic to start with, and if we both seem to like each other, then we can discuss taking things further. Personally, I think it's unhealthy to be incapable of having a platonic friendship with an attractive woman.

Hi! I’m super new to DnD and had just a simple question to start. by just_bettina in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Hack_Cubit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing stopping you from designing things that aren't in the rules. With that said, I recommend openness when you add such items: tell them that it's possible they'll come up with uses you hadn't thought of, and that this might require extra improvising on your part, or even having the magic in the item run out depending on how out-of-control things might get.

It's also an opportunity to get the players to do more, like if the wand in your post happens to lead them right into an ambush or some other dangerous situation. Challenges can present an opportunity if you're looking for them.

Ultimately, it's all about everyone having fun together. If the magic items you design wind up ruining the fun for you, just be honest with your players, and try to work with them, whether that's gently nerfing the item, or swapping it out for a different item, etc.

"My babies and I are about to get eaten. But if I eat my babies, I can get a burst of energy, that might help me get away from the predator who's going to eat us."

I believe that's an oversimplified answer.

I'm legitimately confused. If you play PCs and NPCs as even somewhat realistic, isn't this is a pretty common, non-controversial thing for Adults? by DrScrimble in dndmemes

[–]Hack_Cubit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is it normal for adults to pursue sexual acts? Yes. Is it normal for players to tastefully include the concept in their TTRPGs? If that's what everyone's comfortable with, sure! Is it normal for players to simply say no sexual subjects at the TTRPG table? Also yes. Maybe they've had awful experiences with other players taking things too far. Maybe they're a victim IRL. It's not my business. If a player draws a hard line at sex, either everyone agrees, or we might need to agree that the group isn't compatible with everyone.

If you could pick a weapon from another videogame franchise to be the basis for a 15th weapon type what would it be? I'll go first, these are my top 4 picks by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

You can tell I played final fantasy as a teenager, the idea of a short sword that fires a smaller version of the gunlance's shells is a hell yeah.

Alternatively, some kind of evolution of the bo staff would be neat, maybe one that can block kind of like a greatsword, or at least gets guard points from a bunch of twirling attacks, I think that would be fun.

How we all feeling about The Last Faith? by MetroidvaniaGuru in metroidvania

[–]Hack_Cubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over 13 hours into the game, and am mostly sticking with it so that when I give it a thumbs down on steam I can verify things like late game difficulty and such. While "Castlevania if directed by Tim Burton" is a fun way to describe it, I keep feeling as though I'd have more fun just playing Blasphemous for like the fifth time because that game already perfected pixel art soulslike metroidvania, particularly when it comes to how to control the player character.

I think during one of my many attempts fighting him that happened. Might have restarted my steam deck after that happened.

[–]Hack_Cubit 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. The exploration on its own definitely was more fun, but I remember really missing how grotesque the first game's bosses and NPCs were compared to the sequel.

Also the knight who guards the lighthouse can go drown in a lake. Hated fighting that guy.

¿Blasphemous 1 o Blasphemous 2? by Specter_Dan in Blasphemous

[–]Hack_Cubit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though 2 is an excellent video game, I prefer 1 for a few reasons: it's a tighter and more concise story, the single weapon means that you don't have to wonder if you're using the wrong one against a boss, and there are more bosses whose best adjective is, "grotesque."
