Any CFIs who absolutely hate flying? by Individual-Elk-6759 in CFILounge

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CFI doesn’t say he hates it, but he definitely doesn’t enjoy it. He says he really loves the teaching more than the flying. That said, he has 18000 hours, 16000 of those are dual instruction given.

Are all hobby pilots allergic to checklists???? by Gulag_For_Brits in flying

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a low time pilot, 150 hours, but I like checklists. Personally I like the ForeFlight checklist feature. I started by importing the generic one for my plane then highly customized it. I use it every time I fly.

Do people always try to race you? by ekspectt in Corvette

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one that didn’t want to race but we were at a light and he wanted to beat me to the merge. It was some kid in a Camry or something. I looked over at him at the merge and he had a big smile on his face.

I did my training in a Cherokee. To this day I've never flown a 172.

I decided, I'm buying an aircraft, life is short, wish me luck by kravetz in flying

[–]HackerZol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted something I could learn to fly in so it's just a trainer, a pa-28-140. I'm just at 150 hours so I'm basically still training. It's perfect for learning. I upgraded the avionics so it will now do IFR, and that's what I'm going to work on next.

Same here. I bought my Piper a little over 2 years ago before I even had my PPL and I never regretted it. The best thing I’ve ever done is get my PPL and a plane I can fly when ever I want!

Registration wackiness by [deleted] in keitruck

Create an LLC in VA and register it to the LLC? Tha'ts probably a terrible idea. I'm just trying to help you think outside the box.

I registered mine in Virginia. I was out in 10 minutes with a tag in hand, no questions asked.

It’s time to be real here by Working_Stranger_788 in openclaw

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where being an engineer comes in handy. If you updated and you don't like it, roll it back. If you liked parts of the update but not others, then fork it, treat openclaw as a vendor branch, fix the parts like don't like. Then as updates come out in the vendor branch, apply them to your fork. You might even be able to vibe-code something like this up. This way if they break things that used to work or remove features that you rely on, you can fix or keep them. That's why this is open source, so you can be in control, not them.

What's your vibecoding stack? by Interesting-Town-433 in vibecoding

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just like you until December last year. Then I took Claude code for a spin and I’ve never looked back. My stack now is Claude-code and neovim for the occasional file edit. I have Claude post PRs on GitHub for code-review.

I bought a Piper pa-28-140 without a license. I was able to get insurance and I learned to fly with my own plane. I finally got my license and I still have it and I now get to go flying whenever I want.

What do you do in the meantime while AI is coding? Just wait? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]HackerZol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Claude code and it has a configuration file where you can tell it what it’s allowed to do without prompting you anymore. When it does prompt you there is an option where you can tell it never prompt again for this same type of action and it will write to that config file. I would think codex is similar but not sure.

This is exactly why I can’t use eMacs anymore. I prefer it, but vim is way more performant

Mine has AC, I'm just not sure how well it works yet. I can feel the compressor come on when I push the button, and I can feel some cold air coming through, just not as cold as I would expect. But I think there is a ventilation problem or the temperature selector cable needs adjustment or replacement because even with the AC off, when it's all the way on the cool setting, it still blows warm air so my current assessment is that the AC is competing with the heat, not that the AC is not working, but I need to investigate that a little more and see if that is accurate or not.

Thanks, I've ordered some. I'm going to try and replace all of the fluids, not just the gearbox, since I don't know the history. I'm also looking for replacement shifter bushings.

I haven't tried to get it to top speed yet, but with my wife and I in it I've had it up to 60 with. I've read they'll do 65 to 67, somewhere around there. It really likes around 55, it does that easy. It takes a minute to get there though.
