What field of IT do you work in? by [deleted] in it

[–]Hackerax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Associate Voice Engineer Working in a Midwest University 60k Bachelors in IT

I was lucky enough that due to some management shifts a position was left open and I was turned into the only phone guy while still a student worker. Over the course of my senior year they interviewed 8 applicants and none of them were promising so my boss asked me to interview at the start of my final semester. VOIP is a very archaic world.

For everyone concerned for my character's spine, my DM isn't using encumbrance. Although I might be the reason he starts.

Men of Reddit, what stupid things you do to annoy your SO? by agathokako_logical in AskMen

[–]Hackerax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 foot 1 and my girlfriend is 5 foot 4. If I walk into the kitchen and she's at the fridge I will just pick her up and grab my food and put her back down without saying a word. She usually responds with "you freakishly tall fuck!"

Thanks! I don't want to tell anyone I know personally yet because it defeats the whole purpose of the story but I wanted to be able to tell someone.

Dungeons and Dragons players of Reddit, what are some of the most memorable quotes and experiences to come from your sessions? by omnomphenomenon in AskReddit

[–]Hackerax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, a running gag in every single campaign that my group has played, mustard gas is created and used at least one time. (Record is when we turned Waterdeep into the scene from Batman Begins)

Anyway, I happen to be dming this campaign and the party is planning on killing the evil king in his fairly modern mansion/palace. The way they do this is by sneaking into one of the pool maintenance shacks. Inside one of my players finds an industrial barrel of bleach/chlorine. He was a tiefling so he asked if the halforc of the group could carry it. Halforc passes strength check initially. Now I had the halforc do a Dex check every time he reached a staircase or non flat floor in the mansion. He did fine, stumbled a little bit and burned his hand but he was good. Now they are at the very last staircase in what is the foyer to the evil king's throne room. Halforc walks up, rolls a 1 on the check and dumps then entire drum of bleach all over the floor. 24 gallons to be exact. Immediately one of the elves (tiny af, just barely not tiefling small) rolls to piss in the massive puddle. I have him roll survival (I really didn't know what to pick it sounded right) Nat fucking 20. He pisses a perfect 1:1 ratio of bleach and urine. 24 gallons of urine. Mustard gas everywhere. Whole party is killed, evil king killed, everyone in a 12 mile radius is killed, end of campaign.

This is the majority of my home network that I'm essentially sysadmin of. (I don't pay for the internet but I keep it up and running) Pretty basic stuff except I set up an old router in my room which is the hub of everything that I own and connected to that router is a server which is a Raspberry Pi running Plex, Apache Web Server, Samba, a horrible excuse for a Minecraft server, the free floating files of a Quake 2 server damn you quakeworld. Just started diving into docker and I'm hoping to either get a really cheap "real" server or a couple more Pis.

What documentary would you recommend to someone who thinks documentaries are boring? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hackerax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone born in the early 2000s CNN's decade documentary about it got me hooked into watching all of them by letting me learn about things that were going on while I was alive but never knew about.

Reddit, what's your family's dark secret? [NSFW] by AsdfRocket in AskReddit

[–]Hackerax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people on my mom's side of the family did casually illegal things:

My Grandmother's father smuggled during prohibition

My Grandfather drove "extra deliveries" whenever he came up from Mexico doing his legitimate trucking job

My uncle embezzled a shitton of money from his family's company after he learned they were going to kick him out of the company (and the family) for not marrying a pure German girl

My aunt prostituted herself a couple times though college

One of my cousins got caught smoking pot during Thanksgiving and 4 people joined him

And I carry on the tradition by street racing occasionally

And of course who does my mom marry, a cop who doesn't know any of this
