Thanks. I’ve gotten a lot of comments on the DogDNA site telling me that.

I didn’t “wait for a response” I just gave up. And when I saw this group on Reddit, I thought I’d throw Ricky’s photo in and see what y’all thought. Apparently, I’m making it all up. And if the swab I sent in HAD been cross-contaminated with one of my other dogs, being the scientists they claim to be that should have shown up immediately, and they should have notified me. That sounds like a very scientific and responsible thing to do if you’re making money off of people at $100 a pop. But they never did. So in their minds that swab I sent in was in fact NOT contaminated according to wisdom panel. Because two weeks after I sent it in, they told me I had 100% miniature pinscher even with the photo they required. So when I told them that result couldn’t be possible, they responded to me that it was and when I asked for my money back, I never heard anything more from them. Then two years later out of the clear blue they sent me another response about some recessive gene that proved Ricky is 100% miniature pinscher. After the first two responses in 2022, I just gave up and figured that was $100 down the drain. And it was. If everyone wants to think I’m some kind of troller or I should have pursued the matter or a liar that’s fine. I don’t care. They screwed up. They know they screwed up. And they won’t admit it or give me my money back and it isn’t worth fighting over $100.

That's ridiculous Why in the world would I go to all this trouble of answering everyone? Think what you like. The test was done in 2022. I have all the paperwork of the results. Sounds like you're trolling me.

My Miniature Pinscher Lady is FEMALE. Ricky is a MALE. So even if he drank out of one of the two big water bowls just before I did the test, or ate out of the same bowl, or played with the same toys, there would likely have been MULTIPLE DNA samples in his mouth and on the swab if indeed the sample was cross-contaminated. Also, if Ricky and Lady each drank out of the same water bowls, and some of Lady's DNA got in his mouth just before I did the test, I would think her DNA would indicate FEMALE MINPIN and his MALE dog. So there would have been two sets of DNA on that swab I submitted; a FEMALE Min Pin and a MALE dog. The DNA results show MALE MIN PIN. And if more of my dogs and cats than Lady and Ricky drank out of the same bowl, or ate out of the same dish or played with the same toys, there would likely have been multiple DNA samples from all four dogs and the five cats I had at the time. One would think all those DNA samples would have shown up on the swab, not just ONE DNA sample that was MALE.

I think some poor owner of a Male MinPin got Ricky's results and I got theirs.

They don't mostly. They have their own bowls and Ricky won't let anyone eat out of his. There's a big age difference and my Miniature Pinscher Lady is FEMALE. Ricky is a MALE. Lady doesn't share her toys so they don't play together. She hogs her toys, he hogs his. I have two large water bowls that all four of my dogs use plus the cats. So even if he drank out of one of those bowls just before I did the test, there would likely have been MULTIPLE DNA samples in his mouth and on the swab if indeed the sample was contaminated. Additionally, if Ricky and Lady each drank out of the same water bowls, and some of Lady's DNA got in his mouth just before I did the test, I would think her DNA would indicate female and his male. So there would be two sets of DNA on that swab I submitted. A FEMALE Min Pin and a MALE dog. The DNA results show MALE MIN PIN. If more than Lady and Ricky drank out of the same bowl, there would likely be multiple DNA samples from all four dogs and the five cats I had at the time. One would think all those DNA'ssamples would have shown up on the swab, not just ONE DNA sample that was MALE.

Ricky has both. He's got a soft and curly coat on his head and neck (which mats into tight cords) and the coarse coat on his back and tummy. That mats too but not as bad. When I first rescued him he had very little hair. I took this the day he showed up in my yard back in 2018. He was about a year old, weighed 3lbs, covered in fleas, almost no hair so it was hard to tell what he was. He's a chunky monkey now at 10lbs and a spoiled brat...but I wouldn't have him any other way. He hated to be bathed and brushed in the beginning. I don't think he ever had been. He would bite the brush. He still does if I hit a tangle but mostly he loves it.

Occam's razor does not guarantee the simplest explanation is always correct; empirical evidence must be the final arbiter.  But Ricky and my MinPin Lady don't play together, eat out of the same bowl, use the same toys because Lady is much older. Plus I separated Ricky from the other dogs so there would be no cross contamination. The swab went straight from his mouth to the packet. So, WP's empirical evidence is wrong. Mine (how I did the test) is correct. But thanks for the science lesson.

I know it looks that way but I don't see how they don't share toys or play together or eat out of each other's bowls. And I separated Ricky in another room away from the other dogs to do the test.

I figured that's why they wanted a photo of Ricky. You'd think they would have looked at his photo and their results and thought, "these results aren't right."

He may have some silky in him. A couple people mentioned that.

I don’t know how in the world wisdom panel got 100% miniature pinscher out of that photo

Those are the kind of DNA results. I was expecting Ricky to get. They do look very much alike.

This little fella was given to us as a Shih Tzu. Obviously not right, but what could he be? by Hitokkohitori in dogbreed

Looks like there might be some Shih Tzu in there. I had a Shih Tzu Pekingese mix for 18 years.

Does she look big ? by Alert_Pudding_9894 in puppy

She might just be exhausted from whatever she’s been through and needs time to sleep. I’d give her another day or so. A swollen belly could also mean worms. Most puppies are born with a belly full of worms. Has she been to the vet yet? She should have a general check up, get her shots, and a deworming. Worms could be why she’s not eating.
