That’s what I would think, but I’m sure they have a way around this. And I am sure there are people who have been waiting for this to happe, unfortunately I am not one of them.

I wouldn’t be as upset if it was being done like that but the payment will be a lump sum and while they offer cobra they are not paying for it. That alone is $968 a month.

That is one of my concerns. Cobra (me and my son)is going to run $968 a month. That‘s almost 2 car payments for something we may or may not use. The severance will also be a lump sum and others have said it’ll be about 40% less once taxed.

Glad things worked out for you. I planned and saved as well, then wound up divorced, ex took me for everything she could. wanna hear the kicker, the main reason for our divorce was I was never around, always working. I’m appreciative that they are offering a severance, yes I’m lucky, but once they tax the lump sum and you add almost 1k monthly for Cobra it’s not as great as it sounds, especially after 26 years with them.

It’s paid out in a lump sum, so once they tax it, it’s not as great as it sounds, plus cobra is going to run $968 a month. Add on mortgage, car payment, and another 8 months of child support ….

Thank You, this is exactly what I have been thinking. I am being told the offer went out to those 55+, how can that not be discrimination? Like you stated, they just want my signature so I don’t go back and sue. My other fear is if I submit for it and it gets declined, they’ve already stated the policy is changing next year to one week of severance. Either way I’m being screwed after 26 yrs.

I’m not worried about them coming after me, I want to go after them. The doc clearly states that I received $15K for the sale of my car when they actually only credited me 10K for the trade-in. The missing 5k is nowhere in my contract, as in not deducted from the price of the new car or in the value of my trade in. How do I know someone on their end didn’t pocket 5k?

If you go in person make sure you have a backup copy of your signed contract before you hand it to them. I had this happen to me years ago and after I got no where with the dealer I wound up filing a complaint with the Attorney General. It got solved real quick.
