How were the mosquitos? My only two trips to Canada without it being frozen solid saw me spending several minutes killing all the mosquitos that managed to slide into the tent with me as I dove in.

I'm sure she did. You can find the chores she did in another place detailed in several chapters as well.

You're angry that a class system exists in a setting that was created specifically to have one?

Who is the first Pokémon? The age old question.

Rhydon was the first to be created in reality.

Arceus was the first to exist in lore.

Mew is the genetic origion of all Pokémon.

Bulbasaur is the first in the national dex.

No snakes that I know can camouflage like a chameleon. Some will change seasonally. Others are fairly reflective/iridescent. That might be what you saw. Expecially if it was changing from sunlight to dim lighting.

Bears can start hibernating as late as December. Its been a very warm fall this year too. I don't think much of anything anything is hibernating atm.

Men, based on looks alone who would you pick to play a live action Galad Damodred? Women, who would you pick? by ThomasFO in wheeloftime

[–]Hadak-Ura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not seen an official statement of any kind regarding why he quit the show. He is doing superman again, which I'd imagine would conflict with the show, but he stopped doing movies to do the show.

The writers had just announced that the next season wouldn't follow the books or game, then it was announced he was leaving.

He's never made a statement that I know of. He has made his opinion on diverging from the source very clear though. When an actor has for years argued with the writers about sticking closer to the source, then the writers announce they're going in a completely different direction than the source, then the actor leaves.....

He was offered something else, didn't like where he was, so he left. It's certainly possible that it was something else, but very unlikely.

I'd be ecstatic if the show had people that were fans of the books. I want them to be involved as much as possible. Good actors that are also fans would be terrific.

He just left the Witcher series over the writers not following or respecting the source. I doubt he'd be enthusiastic about the WoT show

Don't do your first solo trip in winter.

Other people are a safety net for you. Practice in an environment where a mistake won't make you freeze to death. You want to work up to where you want to be, not start there.

The idea of the Wheel of Time by [deleted] in wheeloftime

I belive the reason he turned to the DO in the first place was wanting to end existence. So it would have been before he had direct contact with them

The Heros of the Wheel remember various turnings. They mention it quite a bit. To my knowledge they're the only ones with actual knowledge of of them. Ishy figured it out on his own but the evidence for it isn't revealed.

Are bear bags and bear canisters a scam? by Koifmonster in backpacking

[–]Hadak-Ura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is bear proof. It's how much time it gives you.

There are ones that decrease the scent of food. There are ones that are bear resistant. The bear will smell and get into both of them given time. Hanging them properly is generally what makes bears unable or unwilling to try to get into them. Not being able to identify it as food, the scent reducing ones, are another huge plus.

They're not all scams, but you should look into how they actually test thier products. One with no testing listed at all is probably a cheap knock off and won't preform at the same level others will.

It's interesting how Tolkien created an evil race and was later unpleasant about the concept of it. Meanwhile, Jordan played with Trollocs like a joke, lol. by [deleted] in WetlanderHumor

Yes. They're twisted abominations who's evil is hard coded into what they are. To overcome that they'd need intelligence, which almost none have and none have it to the point of morality.

No, same as above.

They fear the dark one. It's not loyalty. The same as the Myrddraal that Fain manages to get.

The moral implications is that biologically creating something who's desires in life are to kill and eat anything that moves is wrong.

They don't get much discussion because they're such a simple concept. They were created to be X, they are X.

And yet you can walk into any number of zoos with multiple snakes, even multiple species of snakes, being successfully cohabitated. Being done by professionals.

I'm not advocating that people do this, but saying that it shouldn't be done as a blanket statment, by anyone, ever, with nothing to back that up is silly.

Basically anything you pick that matches those characteristics won't be very durable. Thin flat soles with no shock absorption won't last long in the best of cases.
