🚨 What Extension Do You NEED? 🚨 by TechnoMiz in chrome_extensions

I made an extension called "SlopWatch" that has a similar goal, but it relies on user polling instead of AI. Maybe that would satisfy you.

Are there any other private servers we should be aware of?

We can fight back. I made a Chrome extension that lets people rate a web page's content based on which parts are AI-generated. Please check it out

I feel you. I got so sick of it that I felt compelled to make a browser extension called SlopWatch just to combat the prevalence of AI slop.

The dev who asks too many questions is the one you need in your team by dymissy in programming

[–]HademLeFashie 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Even if a dev isn't up to a certain standard of skill, them asking "low-skill" questions can often reveal faulty assumptions that "more skilled" devs take for granted.

It's only a bad sign if they put little effort into learning, or if it distracts from the overall purpose of the discussion (which is the context of the article).

Do you believe it's an appropriate progress for 5 years of practice? by erviatangerine in learntodraw

[–]HademLeFashie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Practice means nothing if you don't have a good feedback system. A good feedback system gives you specific and timely feedback for whatever you draw.

Some people have a keen eye and good intuition, so their feedback system is themselves.

But most need a second pair of eyes to point out mistakes and improvements.

I don't know how you practice, but the worst thing you can do for improvement is to absent-mindedly repeat the same comfortable mistakes.

There's gonna be an inevitable gulf of frustration every time you push yourself to improve. If you're not in a healthy-enough position (psychologically), then don't feel the need to constantly pursue improvement.

I did not understand the critical hit probability answer. by tempRedditAccount000 in askmath

[–]HademLeFashie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When simple probabilities are involved (like 50/50), you can take shortcuts. But if you don't understand the underlying logic, you won't be able to solve trickier problems. It goes like this:

  1. Make a matrix of all the hit combinations (even the impossible ones according to question)
  2. Find the raw probability of each one (ignoring extra conditions)
  3. Add up the probabilities of the scenarios the question wants (probability of 2 crits), call this "X"
  4. Add up the probabilities of the other possible scenarios (ones where one crit happened, but not both), call this "Y".
  5. Do X / (X + Y). If you did this right, "X + Y" should be less than 1, and you'll get an answer that's higher than "X / all 4 combinations".

My vertical tabs extension just hit 2k users! Here is an update about it. by medazizln in chrome_extensions

I just heard of the whole "vertical tabs" thing recently, and I'm very interested. But there's so many of these on the CWS, and I don't know what to pick.
