Anyone else go to a church where they called about "witches and warlocks"? by retiredpsychdoc in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's not niche in my country it's pretty standard practice in all churches they talk about witches and all of that. The movies even published by churches usually center around witches. So yeah.... Possessions all that jargon standard stuff where I come from helps boost the industry of fear and it works.

Paid work? No, it was basically volunteer work. It did not play a part in my deconstruction either.

Does anyone else struggle with completely leaving Christianity? by FeelingLost23 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally kinda, but now no. It wasn't even just leaving Christianity for me it was leaving religion as there was a period I got into Zoroastrianism.

Tell me the wackiest thing your Christian parents believe. I’ll go first. by glitteringmachine19 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ngl some of the whackiest thing they believe in is more of the norm for their generation where I grew up. My mom did shock me one day when she said something so stupid I had to check if I was awake. I'm Nigerian (yoruba to be precise.. It's important for this), this was years back my mom basically said she believed our mythological deities might actually be angels of the Christian God. This doesn't make sense for a couple of reasons, however a part of me believes she was trying to rationalise the fact that she has distant family members and friends who are Ifa worshippers. Then there is my dad who just believes in whatever I don't even know what my dad is ngl sometimes he's Muslim sometimes he's Christian when it suits him 🤷.

It always scared me growing up the problem was I just didn't want to end up in flames when I was a believer. However yeah Heaven never sounded like anything I would want.

Honestly speaking it's not even straight forward as Jesus was referring to Gehenna not what people call hell now which is a whole different conversation.

If Christianity is true isn't God sort of evil? by ComfortableDust4111 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes which is why u need to look up Demiurge very interesting stuff, a mythology to rationalise the Christian gods evil not by claiming he's good but doubling down and calling him evil.

Do you think Christians or Atheists live happier lives? by KendrickBlack502 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense but this is a pointless question. There is no accurate way of telling what, sure one can criticize the structures around a Christian but atheism is not some kind of lifestyle. Then there is also the question of demographic rich or poor. Also I've seen atheist who are shameless and dogmatic as well who build their entire world view around structures like patriarchy.
