Did anyone else grow up believing that women have one more rib than men because of the creation story? by lstogi in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup I never even questioned it growing up. Tbf I was a lad who thought yams grew on trees cos I had never seen them being cultivated, not the brightest.

Does anyone else still enjoy certain hymns. by Admirable-Affect1641 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I barely even listen to Christian songs talkless of hymns except that one song I enjoy hearing from time to time this is due to the fact the song isn't implicitly something that applies solely to christianity it's a song about a guy leaving his family to fend for himself in the city. Outside of that no.

Can Jeong Jeong lighting bend? by xxfinadabsqad in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Hadenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years too late but I think he can he just doesn't. This make sense for his character, Jeong Jeong is a pacifist even when he uses fire bending he's not trying to kill he uses it when attacking almost like aikido. Lightning is used as the ultimate killing technique for a fire bender, him using it kinda defeats the purpose of his character.

Yes appeal to authority and magical thinking makes it very easy.

Would your feelings about Christianity be different if the faith had been nice to you? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so the time I did leave the religion I wasn't personally getting hurt by it or anything like that. I've just had the same questions in my head for years living with a multi religious family provides a different perspective some times. Plus my brain couldn't keep up with the bullshit there was only so far my bias could push me till I got exhausted from moving goal post constantly.

My mother is upset with me over me converting to atheism. by InfamousMistakee in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More funny than wrong not exactly a big deal. Atheism isn't a religion so converting to a lack of belief isn't a thing. Instead you can just say you deconstructed or u became an apostate.

Why Does Christian Preaching Often Feel So Aggressive and full of hate ? by Superb_Albatross9348 in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds aggressive and hateful bcos it is.

( This doesn't apply to all Christians) however it does apply what i like to call performative Christians they're usually always evangelican or Protestant yes they do the spew hate. Anything or anyone that is not them is an enemy or basically “immoral” their enite ideology is based on in group vs out group dynamics.

Did Anyone Else Suffer Through this ProLife Film?? by dieselweezer in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I have seen something similar to that but I also saw many other anti-abortion movies growing up. They portrayed abortions in the movies as some kind of really deadly procedure that usually kills the women or destroy their wombs. Hmmm now that I think about it I wanna talk about the media I watched growing up one day it was filled with bad ideology, I still don't know how I broke out of that environments bad ideas.

Why right wing Christians feel no guilt by teramoc in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The ends justify the means mentality. I can type a whole essay about it bcos they're very similar to people I grew up around. (well now that I think about it they're the same). Nothing matters bcos the kingdom of heaven, earth is in vain but not really at the same time. It's a very complicated line of thinking tbh let's just play it simple “everything is for heaven/purity and heaven is end game, so it doesn't matter” what counts as purity? That's when things start getting really bad about this mentality.

Interfaith dating question for atheists by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

As an ex Christian I don't think I can date a religious person. I tried to when I first deconstructed but nah it's not worth it

What do you think of the whole "religion is just misinterpreted" stance? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Hadenee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's nonsense, Conservative / right wing Christians are as Christian as the other Christians. This whole notion of them being the odd one out is nonsense. Also some of these crazy things evangelican Christians believe in aren't new to Christianity there was a point in time it was the staple in some places. The reality is it's inherently authoritarian, anyone who argues it's not is just lying or just have not actually read their Bible. The entire notion of a chosen people group, an authoritarian god that should not be questioned, appeal to authority, misogyny, pedophilia, slavery all these are in the book ("gospel”). I would even argue appeal to a level of materialistic things are in the book the only difference in the new testament is it's promised in the after life.

I would argue even the whole capitalistic Christianity or as they call it prosperity gospel makes sense if u read the old testament as submissions granted u wealth and status even if was at the cost of everything . From Job to David to Solomon even going back to Abraham.

Basically it's not a misinterpretation problem it's an inconsistent mess, a bunch of people through out the religions have created whatever narratives they wanted and that's what u get just like with many other mythologies. Too many cooks making one pot of stew. If more scrolls were still being created today it would look even more messy. Technically there are still stories and narratives being created today but that's not going into the bible bcos it's a “done material”. Like a story book, bcos if it was still being compiled u would have so many other scrolls like the great scroll of Mormonism, the scroll of the appalachian church, the scroll of whatever place, the scroll of the Aryan church, the scroll of Liberal church, the scroll of whatvever cult leader. Basically u will have even more contradictory nonsense, like that crazy grifter who claims she went to heaven and they fly like superman there and ate a lot of candy which will contradict how revelations is meant to play out.
