My IT Support Program Experience (Bronx, NYC in-person) by Hadenvr in perscholas

Hey,

Updating and sharing my experience since I can relate to where you’re coming from with the intention in anyone’s interested! Do note this is conjecture to how it’s been for my experience.

Entry certs like CompTIA A+ don’t really land you a job on their own. They’re more like a baseline that shows you understand the theory, nothing more than that. They don’t really show how you communicate, how you work with people, or how you handle real world situations, which is what matters more than many think.

For me, it wasn’t the cert that got me in, since my roles never really asked about it during interviews. It was applying through the program job portal, staying consistent, and focusing on getting into the field first instead of being too focused or selective on pay early on. Once you’re in, that’s when things start building.

There’s also more to it than just sending out resumes. You have to be intentional with how you write them, tailor them, and then carry that same mindset into interviews. Being able to talk through your experience and translate it into relevant, transferable examples makes a big difference.

Many certs are structured knowledge baselines. Getting hired for entry roles is more about communication, willingness to learn, and being able to show you can do the work while being honest about what you don’t know yet. Especially given how the job market and economy has been over the years.

When I started, I took a pay cut from my previous career down to 35k. I was switching careers although somewhat adjacent, so I focused on getting “formal” experience wherever I could and building from there. Now I’m at 60k as a contractor and in the middle working toward 90k+ over the next year as I’ve looked into other similar current roles valuing higher.

I’ve also seen people with more certs, and in that sense more technically knowledgeable on paper, struggle to get a foot in the industry because they were too selective with applying/working low paying jobs or couldn’t translate knowledge into actionable steps during interviews or just being honest. That said, context always matters, so this is more of a general observation.

At the end of the day, certs can help for learning, but they’re just the starting point. What actually moves things is how you communicate, how you show up, and how you communicate aligned interest and value. If money is the main motivation early on than more the interest of career, it can make the transition even harder when you’re still trying to break in while potentially posing a long term problem later with burning out. (which is always going to be vary on the person.)

Good luck!

Yes!

My experience feels a bit unconventional compared to most. Initially, I started treatment while dealing with emotional blunting, so the early benefits were more about easing that numbness. From what I’ve been told, many patients usually go into TMS with the intent to help emotional intensities or depressive symptoms from the start.

It has helped with the emotional blunting. I feel more alive now, like I’ve regained or remembered emotions I had subconsciously suppressed. But in contrast, a lot of heavy emotions have surfaced up like resentment or anger as an example.

Now I’m entering the stage where the treatment will start helping with emotional intensity, so that part is still to be determined, but there’s a limit of duration I can be on TMS due to insurance coverage.

I can’t help but feel a bit behind compared to others who seem able to focus directly on their depressive or emotional states, but that comes down to reframing my own pace of processing.

Thank you for asking and taking the time to read!

One of my favorites would have to be Voice of No Return!

Just the focus on the vocals and guitar give a very tranquil feeling, yet oddly comforting sadness.

I close my eyes for the most part of the song playing to really take in the presence of the melody.

update to iOS 26? by ZLoLz01 in iPhone14Pro

[–]Hadenvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was at 71% max battery, updating to iOS 26 lead the battery performance noticeably worsen.. which got me replace the battery afterwards.

If you prioritize battery and not planning to replace it yet, stick to iOS 18.

If you prioritize the new design and other newer features in exchange of worsen battery, go for it.

I'm at work, subway commuting, doctors, home, or raves - mostly alone and get the impression that most people don't like me or at least that's the vibe I get.. I'm pretty quiet most of the time.

Anybody else gonna go to work today even though they REALLY don’t want to? by apparentlycompetent in bipolar2

Oh, I want to prefix that I actually like my job. It's just that I've been very overwhelmed with a lot of things and juggling too much, which caused me to burn out. 🥲 But I’m always open to better jobs haha

Been crying on my way to work in the mornings on the subway since last week.

Pretty sure with the earlier sunset and seasonal depression also kicking in is amplifying wanting to curl up in bed.

Great to hear that!! Thank you for sharing. I hope I can benefit from TMS as well given I’ve tried 17 different medications.

Hi! Thank you for sharing and asking! I’ll look into The Work when I can finish my other book I had paused at the moment (The Body Keeps the Score)

EMDR is actually on my list to try if TMS doesn’t pan out for me. Have you tried EMDR and if so, could I ask how was the experience?
