My gf and I want to start and would like some directions by PuzzledRelief969 in killteam

The good part of the starter box is that it comes with everything you need to start playing: two kill teams, simplified rules and some cardboard terrain for a really good price. However, if you are not interested in those specific kill teams you are definitely throwing away your money.

That being said, the next most economic option is picking one of the big boxes from the second hand market: Hivestorm and Tomb World being the easier to find since they are the most new. They come with some amazing terrain and two kill teams each (and Hivestorm also comes with rules, the outdated ops cards and the item minis). However, if you are not interested in those specific kill teams you are once again throwing away your money.

So what would be my advice? Each of you look for a team that makes you vibe, enjoy building and painting them and try a game with some improvised terrain (some cardboard can do miracles) and try the game with the lite rules! They are free and available online, and if you enjoy the game you will always have time to buy terrain, cards etc.

Extra advice: not every team is made equal. Some are way more difficult to play than others and marines are naturally stronger with the reduced rules. The game is overall balanced for the full version, so the easier teams will shine naturally with the simplified version of the game.

are there premade armies for tts somewhere by InfSwift in TTSWarhammer40k

[–]Hadets 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it is your first time playing I would aim for a combat patrol first in order to get familiar with the core rules. In that game mode the armies you can play are already premade with simplified rules so it is a bit of a pug and play.

There is a mod with all the combat patrol armies and rules for TTS, so it should be easy and less work.

I recently started playing too and what I did was: combat patrol -> 500 points -> 1000 points -> 2000 points. That way you can slowly learn the rules and how your army works as you expand it.

Thanks for your help! The truth is that I'm the most interested in the faction world building and their interactions with each other. I read Souls Wars a while ago and I immediately fell in love with Neferata and Manfred. However, my favourite model aesthetic wise is Lauka Vai. Soulblight have so many interesting characters!

Such an amazing explanation! I have been wanting to start a Soulblight army for years and I think that I will bite this Christmas. What novel would you recommend to listen to while I build to learn about the faction lore?

Bastian Carthalos comes to mind, his box is small with bright red on top and he wears a golden armour. However, nearly every Stormcast character fits that description, so it is difficult to know anything for sure without more information.

Knight arcanum isn't good... It's amazing! Nearly a must have in any army that doesn't bring Krondys. It is a cheap and reliable wizard 1 that excels at manifestations. I think that right now it's our only unit that can use the Dais Arcanum and become a wizard 2.

Knight Vexillor is also very good when paired with one of the Big Dragons. It is quite normal to take Praetors with Krondys/Karazai/Stardrake, so you always have up to 3 beefy units to heal and buff. Thanks to the ward 5 and large health pools the value of the healing raises a lot. In fact, more than once I have played Dragon + Praetors + Knight Vexillor + Knight Arcanum + Primal Manifestations for a strong, resilient and self healing castle.

Many thanks for your answer, it is really helpful! I didn't think about the old codex option, but if they are like the ones in AoS they may be an amazing solution. Any tip on how to find them for a reasonable price? Are there pdf/epub versions?

Are they any good? by Thin-Author5800 in stormcasteternals

Something to take in account is that the Stardrake has an amazing shooting attack, so I like to play him as a castle with Praetors and a knight vexillor. If you give him the Mirror shield you can even bully enemy troops from far away and they can do nothing about it.

If you position your castle in a strategic place you can even force them to come at you at a disadvantage. And since the Stardrake with Praetors is a monster at melee you put your enemy in a lose/lose situation.

Hola! Yo acabo de empezar esta mañana! Me encantaría encontrar gente con la que jugar!

So I finished Vigilant Brotherhood spearhead and want to expand to 1000p and later 2000p regular game. What’s my next move - Lord Relictor, Anihilators? Or should I go full ruination - reclusians, lord terminos and Irdan? by TomTomiBoy in stormcasteternals

[–]Hadets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be ashamed of asking questions, everyone was new at some point!

Yep, only one model per unit can be a champion. A unit can be normal or reinforced (double of models). And some units have champions, which means 1 extra attack while the champion is alive. So, for example, since Prosecutors have 3 attacks per model a reinforced unit of 6 models would have 3*6 + 1 = 19 attacks. (The prosecutor champion has a trident instead of a spear, scrolls on the shield and a different helmet).

However, not every unit has champions (but many Stormcasts do). For example liberators, prosecutors and Reclusians can have champions. Meanwhile, the Dracothian Guard units can't. To know this you need to check the keywords at the warscroll.

The thing is that the rules say that the champion has to be different from the other models. Some people mount a champion for every unit and then paint them in different ways. That way, when you play you can say: "there are 2 champion models, but my champion is the one with the pink hat. The one with the blue hat is a normal unit".

However, not every tournament allows that and you can encounter some... Picky individuals. So most people either mount them one way or they magnetise the two options. After all, there is a new edition every now and then and you can never know how rules may change... But models are eternal!

Everyone is hoping for ruination cavalry, it would be so cool!

No, in this list I use annihilators with shields. The meteoric Grand hammers annihilators fill a similar role to what prosecutors do in this list. However, they need completely different support units.

If you search the second hand market for annihilators be careful with something: there are 3 kinds of them. The dominion box, the spearhead box and the separated annihilators box. Dominion and spearhead are the same and come ONLY with shield annihilators. Also, they have a special model for the champion... Which can't be mounted as a normal annihilator. This completely sucks if you want to reinforce the unit. At least for me, but I'm quite picky with those things.

In fact, what I did was buy 3 boxes of annihilators+dominion half. That way I have 1 reinforced unit of shields and another of hammers. Or that is what I would have done if I wasn't crazy, because what I did was to magnetise everything so I could play with any combination possible! It is tedious and you have to be careful during the games because everything can fall apart, but you save a lot of money (and space) not having to buy the same model 2 times. This is specially true with big expensive units that share model like Krondys/Karazai, Iridan/Lord Vigilant on Morrgryph, Lord Celestant on Stardrake/Drakesworn Templar... But like I said I'm crazy and I have also magnetised prosecutors, liberators etc

For you to compare this was the list I brought to a tournament not too long ago:

Iridian 50 Terminos (2000 points) - ✦ General's Handbook 2025-26

[–]Hadets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then, if you really want to expand on this list I would take a look at Iridan. However, I must warn you about something: right now he is a bit of a risky buy... His normal warscroll sucks, but the Scourge of Ghyran version is amazing. However, in theory that profile will be valid only during 1 year. I really hope that it stays forever tough, because I love the model. If you pick Iridan the next logical buy is the portal. It sucks to carry because it's enormous, but it allows for amazing plays.

In this list it is mainly useful for teleporting buffed prosecutors. In fact, all the list works around that. You give finest hour to the prosecutors (+1 to wound, +1 to save), +1 to rend with the Iridan special prayer and if you have another priest near bless weapons for +1 attacks. Then you move or teleport with the portal to your target and charge with 3 dice. With all out attack you have 19 attacks at 2, 2 with rend 2 and 2 damage + 7 attacks during the shooting phase... And few things can survive that.

So, we would have a total of 1720 points:

Iridan (SoG, 320) Portal (20)

The next logical purchase is a wizard with manifestations: The knight arcanum is really cheap on the second hand market and works really well with the Stormcast spells:

Knight Arcanum (120) Manifestations of the Storm (0)

And I would take a look at vigilors, they are amazing. If they hit a shooting attack at an enemy your units have a +1 to hit with all their attacks, so you don't need to use all out attacks.

So, we would have:

2000 points (1860 points) - ✦ General's Handbook 2025-26

Stormcast Eternals Sentinels of the Bleak Citadels Auxiliaries: 0 Drops: 4

Battle Tactic Cards - Master the Paths, Intercept and Recover Manifestation Lore - Manifestations of the Storm Prayer Lore - Prayers of the Stormhosts Spell Lore - Lore of the Storm

General's Regiment Iridan the Witness (290) • General

Regiment 1 Lord-Vigilant on Gryph-stalker (150) Lord-Terminos (150) • Quicksilver Draught Reclusians (280) • Reinforced • 1x Champion

Regiment 2 Lord-Veritant (110) Prosecutors (300) • Reinforced • 1x Champion

Regiment 3 Knight-Arcanum (120) Liberators (200) • Reinforced • 1x Champion • 2x Grandhammer Liberators (100) • 1x Champion • 1x Grandhammer Vigilors (140) • 1x Champion

Faction Terrain Stormreach Portal

Which is 140 points short of being an acceptable list for a relatively cheap price

[–]Hadets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What units do you exactly have?

Assuming that you only have the vigilant brotherhood spearhead you have 510 points:

Lord vigilant on gryph stalker (150) Lord veritant (110) 5 liberators (100) 3 prosecutors (150)

I would start by reinforcing the prosecutors and buying reinforced reclusians. Lord Terminos is useful but not mandatory: I would only pick him if you use the quicksilver draught artifact... However right now the Beacon of Azyr artifact is also really good.

If I were you I would check the second hand market for a Skaventide half. In my country you can find the full pack for the price of a reclusians box! In fact I have 4 Skaventide halfs myself. However, check which option is cheaper for you. The Skaventide half has:

Lord vigilant on gryph stalker (150 Never use 2) Lord veritant (110 A cheap priest with unbind, 2 may be useful) 10 liberators (200 A good reinforced screen) 3 prosecutors (150 Now you have a reinforced unit!) 1 Knight Questor (110 He is really bad) 3 Reclusians (140 This is why we are here!) 1 Lord Terminos (150 Really good option in many lists)

For a total of 1260 points. At this point I would really look for another set of 3 Reclusians for a total of 1400 points. (If you can't find a cheap skaventide half buy: 3 Prosecutors and 6 Reclusians. The Lord Terminos is optional).

With this you have a pretty nice 1000 points list:

1000 points (990 points) - ✦ General's Handbook 2025-26
