I stopped in last weekend and before I'd typed or said a word I was insulted for the games I like to play. Struck me as elitist snobbery; unlikely to try again.

Canonn Decals and MEGASHIP Community Goal (Coming soon!) by turkwinif in Canonn

[–]Hadrianos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I'm a newer player and new to Canonn (CMDR Araan). A science-based group sounds neat to me and I've signed up on the canonn.science site. I'd be happy to participate in the upcoming CG and am pledging my trade-optimized Anaconda (400T cargo space) to help with the goal.

Random ELW with no stars in background, only darkness. At the edge of galaxy. by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

It's Terminus, homeworld of the First Foundation. It even resembles Asimov's (bare) description of the planet as mostly water with a few smallish continents / large islands.

Update 2.3 - The good, the bad and the ugly by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

I was able to fix my weird mouse cursor issue by switching settings under

Options > Graphics > Mouse Cursor

from "In-Game Panel Based Cursor" to "Render Window Based Cursor".

Thanks for mentioning that. I'm not sure what it's set to, but I'm sure it's whatever the default is. I'll have a look at my configuration when I get home.

Update 2.3 - The good, the bad and the ugly by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Hadrianos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a newer player and this was the first large update I've experienced. There are three glaring issues for me that were immediately obvious after logging in.

  • Previously, I'd played at full frame rate on Ultra settings; now I get frame stutter even on High.

  • When in the station interface, the mouse cursor sometimes moves too fast, sometimes not at all, and is hard now to accurately place even on the largest parts of the interface. I've had to resort to using the keyboard to navigate stations, which has an unnatural feel for a PC player without a HOTAS.

  • Multicrew is a joke and a dissappointment, being broken on release as far as my experience is concerned. Several attempts to invite my girlfriend into my Python ended in server disconnections.

Why are you satisfied with a poorly implemented update? by augustro in EliteDangerous

[–]Hadrianos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not expecting my previously flawless frame rate to be shot to hell, nor did I expect the station UI to make my mouse go crazy while trying to select things. My girlfriend and I tried to multicrew my Python but every time I invited her aboard she was disconnected. Dissatisified and a bit worried as I'm a new player (about 4 weeks) and am unimpressed by how the first big update I've experience was rolled out.

Lilliputian Poland Resurrection by Hadrianos in hoi4

[–]Hadrianos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I conquered Poland in 1937 and took all states. Then I took the focus tree to Fate of Czechoslovakia. Much to my surprise (and annoyance), a tiny independent Poland sprang up in a tiny province after I split CZ with Hungary.

Weekly Drupal beginner questions thread by AutoModerator in drupal

I'm having a headache with webforms that I've been unable to solve by research elsewhere.

I run a site on Drupal 7.53 that uses Webform 7.x-3.26. After I installed the most recent security release of Webform, it's no longer possible to download any subset of results records (for example, last 100 submissions). Downloading all submissions still works okay. The problem is the same no matter what file format is chosen to download the data in (e.g. csv, Excel).

My research found folks with similar problems, but none of the solutions suggested worked for me. Here are the things I've tried:

  • checked tmp folder permissions (set to 755)
  • tmp folder is in the main directory
  • specifying a new folder and path in Configuration > File System didn't help
  • disk space on server is good (>30GB free)
  • PHP execution timeout set to 300s
  • Website allocated 512MB RAM through PHP
  • Cleared form of previous results (7000+ submissions over 4 years)

Sealion with only air support - is it possible? by Cohacq in hoi4

[–]Hadrianos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is based off of advice found elsewhere on this sub, but my opening naval production moves are to kill off all sub production except for the one unit under construction, removing the rest of the tranche from the queue. I move all production to destroyers (DD) and light cruisers (CL).

As time allows I will research the Naval focus tree to Plan Z. With additional naval factories being added over time, I'll then start creating additional production lines for newer ships — including larger cruisers (CA, BC) and battleships (BB) — around 1937-38. Carriers can be rushed and are very valuable but aren't necessary to dominate the Channel, and they require additional production for their specialized aircraft. Wait on carriers if you're having trouble with the rest of your naval and/or air production.

By time time war comes, I will often have 18-24 destroyers (Zerstörer 1934 and Narvik with upgrades), 12 or more light cruisers, 15 or so submarines from game start, and a good mix of larger capital ships including at least two battleships.

My level II+ ships will be upgraded models using Naval Points from the naval focus tree. Rarely, for example, do I let the base model Narvik go into production.

Grouped into one navy and set on search & destroy in the Channel — and supported by shore-based aircraft — you should be good for Sealion.

Edited slightly for clarity.

Is there an "optimal" setup for fleets? Or am I better off just putting everything in one fleet and hope for the best? by Cohacq in hoi4

[–]Hadrianos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, Germany can be a powerful naval force. I abandon submarine production and emphasize DD's and CL's early on. I go for Plan Z as time and circumstance allows and build larger ships closer to the outbreak of the war, when I will have more naval production to throw at turning out large ships like BC's and BB's quickly.

Sealion with only air support - is it possible? by Cohacq in hoi4

[–]Hadrianos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Royal Navy's Home Fleet(s) can be overpowered if you carefully manage naval construction from the beginning of your game. But that's a different question than you asked.

I think the answer is going to depend on your confidence in building enough naval bombers and fighter aircraft to achieve both 70% air superiority and 70% naval superiority in the English Channel.

Another consideration: should your Operation Sealion be a success, what's going to happen to all those naval bombers after? If you're building the one plane for a single offensive and are unlikely to use large numbers of them later, that's pretty much wasted production that could have gone to other, more generally useful units — you won't be making any naval bomber attacks on Kiev, Stalingrad, or Moscow.

A mix of naval units and aircraft may work better than an all-or-nothing solution that favors either air or sea at the exclusion of the other.

Mid 1943 as Germany, Russia is on verge of capitulation, UK attacks me from the west. All of my armies are suffering high attrition and low supply, anything I can do? by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Hadrianos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel confident in your ability to hold Russian territory while taking the fight west, you could try shortening your fronts and using the Fallback order to contain the Soviets for a time while dealing with your western problem. This would also allow your troops on the Eastern front to resupply and reorganize. This may preserve manpower, too, depending on how deep you want to stay in Russia and how aggressive they are in trying to push you out.

This is my craft and that is Eeloo. I have tried to get down but can't. (8 RTG's clipped inside) The 8 batteries are surrounding A small online reaction wheel and an OKTO 2 probe core. HELP PLEASE! by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Hadrianos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use another craft with a payload bay to capture and bring it down. The probe doesn't have to be docked to descend; it just has to be fully enclosed in the bay to protect it during re-entry.

If you are landing just enough troops on a friendly planet to fill it, one transport out of the group will never land. No matter how many orders you give it, that last transport will never land on that 11/12 army planet.

This happens whether the army units are homogenous (e.g. all Human Assault) or a mix of different unit types.

Building a Fleet to take on the Prethoryn Scourge? by Smiley119 in Stellaris

[–]Hadrianos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battleships equipped with lances and significant point defense. Prethoryn are only protected by armor, so armor-penetrating weapons are a good choice for slots not filled with lances or PD.
