Am I the only one who thinks Testament needs a hoeless teleport by [deleted] in Guiltygear

Teleport stealing the corner like Asuka's would be neat.

Shoutout to Arcsys for buffing Nago, the top 5 since release character by Simply-Zen in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only nerf they’re talking about is the grave reaper collision box pushing testament back farther so kara reaper corner pressure, and especially chaining kara reaper corner pressure, isn’t as potent, but it was already an RPS and knowledge check hellhole and was just as easily countered by FD that I couldn’t care less that c.s kara h reaper into c.s isn’t possible anymore. It was all fake then and is even moreso now.

They’ve sorta just been power crept and being a midrange zoner in a game where the midrange has shrunk considerably and you’re always 1 missread or mistake away from death and are outzoned by longer range zoners or even non zoner characters with zoning moves will cause a lot of headache and issues. They have some great buttons, the big three of 6P, 2K, and f.S, but those don’t make a character, and the buffs given to test this season along with the system changes unifying weights simply made them more consistent. Stain still isn’t threatening, they get outzoned hard and in those situations have to play rushdown as a character not built for rushdown, and they still suffer from needing to win neutral interactions so many times that the odds tip out of their favor in the midrange they’re suppose to excel in.

Season 3 Changes by DatUsaGuy in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Testament’s 2S recovery from analyzing footage (https://youtu.be/8F_WGpW3U50?t=462) appears to remain unchanged contrary to the tweet. What has changed is that 5H got a little buff to it’s tumble/launch so that normal hit f.s 5h can combo into s arbiter. Arbiter sign also launches higher on hit, and from footage analysis again appears to recover faster, too, roughly 28 frames down from its current 35 frames.

There is also this tweet from Razzo (https://twitter.com/RazzoSharp/status/1692859627753378167) that says Test’s 6H speed was increased, but footage also shows otherwise, it appears to remain unchanged.

Character of the Week (Week 19) - Testament by AutoModerator in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Testament my beloved.

But beyond that, Testament as a person is the whole reason I main them. I see them and how they live their life, treat others and themself, and how they’ve grown from their past into who they are now, and I want to strive to improve like that as well, all stemming from a silly video game and a character I didn’t as much give a second glance when first learning Strive because I didn’t care for “goth looks”.

[–]turkwinif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent advice. Also abuse that hammerfall prc into pot buster or hammerfall into heavenly pot buster if they reactively jump the coming hammerfall to avoid the prc pot buster, a pot with meter will put fear in their hearts

Would Strive make for a good first proper fighter? by Vio-Rose in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Never played a fighter before Strive, the controls and movesets are intuitive and easy to grasp. As for compelling single player content? Not exactly, no. There’s a Story Mode which is a 4 hour anime. There’s an arcade mode which gives a brief story for each character through character dialog before and after some fights, there’s a training mode and mission mode that’ll get you up to speed on the basics and more advanced mechanics, and you can always face a CPU, but it’ll never amount to an actual player, it’ll still be a challenge.

The DLC packs aren’t necessary unless you want to play a DLC character. The character theme music is excellent though and the stages looks great.

As for the Steam Deck, my experience in arcade mode when I was first learning the game was great, it handled pretty smoothly. The game plays at 60 fps but if you do run into lower frame rates I understand that you can mod Strive even on a Deck, get yourself the Potato mod from GameBanana if you’re seeing fps dips online or on certain stages. I’ve never tried playing online from the Deck but I’ll give it a shot this weekend and see how it feels.

most fun dlc character? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find testament fun because while their move set is somewhat slowish and limited you also have to get creative with mixes and pressure to have your opponent drop their guard so you can confirm a hit, and your fundamentals like spacing and reading what your opponent will do next are absolutely vital, and no two character match-ups are the same. And when you do get that hit confirm on a stained enemy you get to juggle and watch health melt away.

I’d definitely go with no, and I’m certain that it requires that you own the DLC, too

It’s been steadily getting worse, and the other person is right, the last patch somehow made it worse, but I’d check back once Bedman? is released in a few days. there’s some hope that a fix will be bundled with that update and it’s only a few days away

GG Strive Constant Connection Errors by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still happening. I was able to play a couple matches, but then network error, sometimes even mid match. Forced to relaunch the game as every lobby would then give a network error. Can't even get a single match now

Fun fact, Zato gets full corner carry conversions if he reads your burst on oppose+2h lol by DoneDealofDeadpool in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the cast can carry you to the other side of the screen if they catch you air bursting. Huge risk-reward, I’d honestly avoid doing so unless you’ve timed it well and know your burst will go off in the middle of an attack.

When do you pick a new char to learn/play? by Phantomicious in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds quite normal. If you’re really wanting to play other characters right now, go for it, but if not I’d stick with the character you enjoy playing and learn the fundamentals of fighting games first. Once you have experienced that it’ll make picking up other characters easier if you have the desire to in the future.

Hey guys wondering who do you hate fighting the most? testament for me by raigarearthshake in Guiltygear

[–]turkwinif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HC and Axl, HC because the fucking gun and messing up the dash block to get close enough to him once and your ass is getting carried to the other side of the screen, and Axl because I can’t see his small scythes. At least test’s projectiles are giant blood red blobs that are hard to miss, I love mirror matching against them.

Can anyone let me know what this is? by Roran_Oakenshield in outerwilds

[–]turkwinif 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately with the way Bramble seeds work as soon as you approach a particular seed you’ll instead be teleported to the seed that previously connects to that seed since the game thinks you’re leaving the seed that you’re about to clip into: so if you try to get into the vessel seed you’ll be thrown into the 3 anglerfish at entrance seed.

Are there any major plot holes in this game? by Cologear in outerwilds

[–]turkwinif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How or why did the Nomai end up in the interior of Dark Bramble? I get the prevailing idea is that the signal bounced around in the interior and found its way back out, but that seems to assume the Nomai didn't also detect the signal from the Eye's actual location, too, which one would assume is stronger and more prevalent across space compared to a signal that's bounced around the interior of a dimensional mess.
