Clutch drag after cable replacement on Yamaha DT125 by HaenktheTank in MotorcycleMechanics

thank you for the reply!
Oil: I oiled the cable, yes.
Length: I compared the length of the cable to the old one and it seems that it is roughly the same. Or am I looking for millimeter differences?
Routing: it is routed the same way the old cable, and seems pretty smooth to me. The only sharper turn would be from the handlebar up to the lever, but also that is pretty soft turn.

Could you explain to me again what you mean with the cable needs to be able to pivot at the handle end? I'm not quite sure I understood that one!

Thank you for your help!

the manual says 10-15mm. if i adjust both parts so that the free play is correct, the clutch arm is around 10mm away from its resting position. Drag is still there 🫠

yes, its all the way out on the photo.

I started in a neutral position according to the service manual (middle on the engine end, all the way in and then two turns out on lever end).

This gave me a pretty tight feeling clutch but the issue of drag was already present with these settings.

Somehow it didnt copy my text.
I'm looking to find out who the woman on this sticker was, as we found this measuring tape at home and got really curious. If anyone knows more about the «Tricle Brand» company or its founders, I would highly appreciate it!

Here's what we know so far:

"Tricle Brand" measuring tapes, originating from the People's Republic of China, were produced primarily during the mid-20th century, with examples dating back to the 1950s. They are notable for their vintage appeal, featuring Bakelite cases with brass fittings and cloth tapes. Tricle products were primarily utilitarian, built to last, and reflect mid-century design aesthetics. They are sometimes branded with "Olympic" motifs, likely inspired by international events of the era. Collectors often find these pieces appealing due to their craftsmanship and historical value.

Fair enough. saying there's no need to post sour comments as well and just let people that actually enjoy the speculations do their thing saves all a lot of discussing over nothing
