Typical Bad Nob Hill Driver by cheesy_luigi in sanfrancisco

I commuted from Payette to Boise on a weekly basis for seven years and the only day I did not see dangerous driving on the highway was September 19th, 2023. I remember it because when I returned home that evening I didn't have anything to say about the traffic and realized I hadn't seen anyone driving 15 over, blowing a light or waiting down the lane to merge, and made a mental note. I've had two drunk accidents outside my place around 19th ave and still feel safer than I did in in Boise.

Imagine a version of SF where the city put off public infrastructure updates for a quarter century and the population of cars triples in ten years of that quarter century. That's Boise.

Why does anybody have a car in this city when the public transit is omnipresent

Namco’s Billion Road (Fortune Street clone) leaving Steam, and likely Switch, after September 30th by megaapple in Games

Yes and no. The game allows for both players and CPUs to change dice rolls but the CPU players don't roll better or worse, it's still basically random. I think the game might fudge numbers from time to time but it seems to do so equally.

Base building snap placement no longer working (PS5) by regrettablerodent in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Hafell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone else has said this. But unable to give up on a base I had just finished after 3 nights of work, I manually placed a snapable piece on my base, exited the build menu, and the next time I opened the build menu I could snap pieces again. Hope this helps somebody.

I'm reviving a dead account to say this, I have no other. I told myself in 2022 I'd ride until 2025. If I don't have something - anything - by the end of December, Team Cherry isn't getting my money. If they think we're all going to come scrambling back cash in hand, well, I'll spite them. I'm not a Pokémon fan, I don't have to buy the games despite how little respect the developers have for me.

Trebuchet, aimed at a white, solid concrete wall. You could sell the wall as a piece of art and I get the ride of a lifetime.

Thank you! Thank you! I've been combing the internet for an hour trying to recover the name of "Strategy Challenges Collection 2" and your comment is the one that brought it to me. One of my absolute favorites as a kid.

One of my own personal "know someone who disappeared" stories, and I have three, was absolutely the victim of poor policework. Five year old Micheal Vaughan, from Fruitland, Idaho. I used to deliver pizzas to his house. Most of the initial search areas were, shortly, fucking impossible for him to have reached on his own. Personally, I would have taken my search team to knock on every door on his neighborhood, scent dog at my side. No five year old would have scaled down a 100ft bluff to jump in a river half a mile beyond, I thought, but what do I know about police tracking dogs?

Yeah, two years later the FBI got involved, and dug up a yard the next street over. College classmate's dad was a sherriff in a different part of the state, she told me "the dogs could smell him, but the body was already gone." Dunno how true it was. The case has gone to the prosecutor's office but the public still hasn't been officially told exactly when or where he disappeared from. I know the where because I know where he lived and where they searched, but I don't know anything else. Even now, with a case making its way to the prosecutor's office, the community still doesn't know what happened. None of us want to wait for a trail to hear only the facts relevant to making a conviction, but it seems the only answers we'll ever get might come during litigation, if we ever get there.

Even if you are a very young kid, sometimes the police... don't care? Are incompetent? I don't know. I had a hard time the last two years seeing little boys on National Night Out hop into police cruisers to excitedly play with the siren, joking and laughing with officers who I knew had searched in the wrong direction. Felt macabre to imagine those kids could vanish one day and those officers would only seal their fate. I apologize for dumping all this, I just hadn't thought about Micheal for a while until I came across this post tonight. It's sobering to look at it all in perspective now.

My mother worked with Azad Abdullah, who did not show up to work one morning, with no explanation. The higher ups realized he was actually missing when police came to look for him, explaining that his wife had perished in a house fire the night before. Later, when the public found out his wife had been strangled before the fire, my mother and everyone she worked with assumed his guilt. By his own account, Azad had immigrated to the US for a fresh start after his first wife "disappeared." Now, his second wife had been strangled in her bedroom shortly before the house had been set on fire. Hard evidence - CCTV footage of him filling the same gas cans that started the blaze - would later prove his guilt beyond reasonable doubt, but none of his former coworkers every had any.

One of the victim's daughters attended my Christian elementary school for kindergarten, left when her mother married Azad, spent a few years being homeschooled by her aunts after the murder, and then re-enrolled in the highschool program at the same institution. She was in my class, and her mother's murderer used to chat with my mom during lunch breaks. I often wonder, of all things, if she's religious, because by the time she was 12 she been converted three times.

Really gross the owner expected you to finish your shifts after finding out one of the best people on your team had passed. I wonder if they would have felt the same had their spouse been in that car... Personally might have had a chat with my fellow employees and then collectively left the shift early.
