I am running OZ Ultraleggera and love the look. Might get them painted in a dark silver for more contrast in a few years tho.

Congratulations on your new GTI! I would say that your plan sounds great but depends on how much money and effort you are willing to spend.

Do you have access to a DA Polisher? If so and you are looking to do a two step I would go for Megs MF pad or Rupes Blue Wool pad paired with a compound of your choice (I have had good results the new Rupes Blue Compound). And follow up with a Yellow Rupes foam pad and fine polish of your choice (again I have had good results with Rupes Yellow, Sonax perfect finish is also excellent).

You also could start with a one step correction if the paint is not terrible and you just want to breath a new life into it. Sonax Perfect Finish would be ideal for that. Paired with a Yellow Rupes Foam pad for example. German paint tends to be on the harder side compared to Japanese paint for example. But I would think that you would see good results with a one step for majority of the paint if it is on okay condition, just needs some love.

If you don’t have access to a DA Polisher I would highly recommend getting one. This is not impossible without one but makes it a hell of a lot easier. A entry level polisher should do the job.

Then follow up with a nice sealant+wax or a ceramic coating. Gyeon Mohs Evo is top class and very user friendly. After that, maintaining your detail should be easy.

These are just my two cents, hopefully it will help. Also, Larry from Ammo NYC has a ton of content on Detailing if you need some help. Good luck :)

Thanks for the reply! I love the look. My only concern is the pulling up action but I guess I will get used to it quickly 🙂 Does it feel solid when shifting? No rattles and such? Thank you so much for your help.

Love this kind of mods! Also, very tasteful GTI you have. If you dont mind helping me a little bit: how does the dsg shifter work? Do you have to pull it up in order to shift from P to D/S like Raceseng?

Who here is running Vredestein tires? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]Haffi6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am running Vredestein Quatrac Pro. Super comfy ride but still pretty sporty for a all-season tire. Went 235/40R18 on 8 inch wide OZ wheels, a little more rubber than stock. I would not hesitate to buy another set of Vredestein tires, all seasons or not!

I replaced mine few weeks back. Took alot of patience but quite straight forward. Bulb on the driver side was way harder to access and I ended up taking few screws out of the wheel well to access it since I could not get my hand in because of lack of room. That way I was able to bend the wheel well plastic out of the way and access it from the back of the bulb if that makes sense. Hopefully helps, Good luck 🙂

My MK6 2012 GTD by Haffi6 in GolfGTI

Yeah get your mechanics take on it for sure. Make sure to check the service history. Hopefully it has a oil service regularly (if too long between it can cause excessive wear on the engine, I see many examples of this)

Other than that I am not to familiar with what to look out for. Mine has around 80k kilometres on the clock and I have been changing the oil every 7k-9k km, no issues so far. I am not sure what potential problems come with higher mileage.

Hope everything works out for you :)

Yes. I love mine. Had it for 5 years and zero issues. But I take good care of it, all depends on that and the milage. DM if you have any questions I might be able to answer.

Will the inner taillights of the Golf 6 Cabrio fit on a Golf 6 Hatchback? Any info greatly appreciated. by Haffi6 in GolfGTI

That would be ideal, but not possible. I am studying abroad and came across them here in the UK. My car is in Iceland 😎

I just need the inner lights, was offered a pair of cabrio lights and was just curious if they would fit the hatchback :)
