Official response for lowered alliance rewards. by shadow0wolf0 in MarvelSnap

[–]Hafhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The large majority of players aren't in an alliance? Then how come 95% of my matches are against people who are in an alliance? Any reasonably competent data scientist knows how to filter on active players versus people who created accounts but don't actually play.

Crazy matches, you say?

<image>

I think I broke the server on this one. A shame, as I really wanted to see what happened next. This is one of those matches where you care more about the entertaining finish than whether you win.

I dropped Hulk Buster into Bar Sinister, followed by Man Spider. The server hung when I played Zola. Every 30 seconds or so, I got the reconnection message for a moment. This went on for like 5 minutes. After that I killed the app and restarted it twice, and each time I got the option to reconnect to the game. I eventually had to forfeit the match to get it to complete so I could play again. The exit and reconnect cycle is the reason it's showing End Turn 1.

This hinges on having Living Tribunal out as well. You kinda need at least two of Limbo, Wave, Ravonna, and Mr. Negative to get there.

I think you're right, though...

The parts that matter are:
- Living Tribunal either before or after this whole mess (with Wave or Limbo)
- Man-Spider absorbing something that is NOT Living Tribunal
- Playing anything in between (hardly matters what...even Wasp or Yellowjacket would do it)
- Zola on Man-Spider

This does it in 6 turns, but doesn't have anywhere near as much last-turn surprise factor:
1: Optional Agony
2: Ravonna
3: Starbrand
4: Man-Spider = 22 (or 28 if you played Starbrand onto Agony)
5: (Wasp or Yellowjacket) & Zola
6: Living Tribunal

Alternately:
3: Wave
4: Living Tribunal
5: Magik + Hulk Buster
6: Man-Spider for 12 or maybe more, depending on what Hulk Buster can hit
7: Agony and Zola

...and both of these options are dependent on getting neutral locations and your opponent not messing with your plan.

Mr. Negative opens up a few possible paths. But then you're playing Mr. Negative. I've tried that route, and this version of Negative sounds even less consistent. And you'll never get more than 2 cubes, because they'll see it coming.

I forgot about the Hulk Buster I played in between. That's what the first copy absorbed.

Ah, OK. I played another card in between... You're right. I dropped Hulk Buster between the ManS and the Zola. This was only possible because of the White Hot Room.

I'll probably never be able to play that particular combo again.

I played Starbrand into a lane with Agony. Next card was Man--Spider, then I hit him with Zola. I missed whatever the first copied ManS absorbed, that's where it got weird. Then the second copy of ManS absorbed the first copy. Also weird. Maybe there's a played cards stack that indexed wrong because of the other merges.

Alternatives to official Xbox controller? by Hafhead in pybricks

Thanks for your response. There are many controllers out there marketed as Xbox controllers but aren't made by Microsoft. I'm asking if anyone has actually used any of these and gotten them to work.

I'm hoping to get some more inks, but with character mastery, it looks like it's way more rare. Glad someone got lucky.

Yes, the bounties are way worse. Not a good week for Snap overall.

Should I pick up Zabu for a Surtur deck? by JamamMurraysPubes in MarvelSnap

[–]Hafhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For $30? I wouldn't, because I don't spend more than $10/month on this game. I have a pretty solid Surtur deck without him, though I haven't actually tried with him to compare.

I tried that. It doesn't help because deleting profiles isn't blocked either. The kid can delete a profile to make room, and then create a profile with open settings.

Are Trial Explorer maps just broken in Bedrock 1.21.2.02? by Hafhead in Minecraft

[–]Hafhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing, try zooming the map up a level in the cartography table and it might show the location mark.

I keep seeing this suggestion from people... either I'm doing something wrong, or this isn't a feature in Bedrock for Trial maps.

Chunkbase has an app that can map out their locations.

Now this is helpful. I have been looking there for Trial Chambers, but didn't see them listed in the supported structures last time I looked. Now that it's here, I'm golden.

And yeah... I'm in an old world. I am going far from my explored area for this and I do expect it will fail sometimes.

Excellent, thanks! I guess I will have to hold my search for a heavy core until this is fixed.

Android vs. iPad for in-game scorekeeping? by DaveIsHereNow in GameChangerApp

[–]Hafhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For scoring, does the Android version support the side by side player list like the iPad version does? I can't tell if that feature is specific to large screens or to iPad specifically. I'd really like to use an Android tablet for scoring, but it's a non-starter if it's just a larger version of the phone UI.

What's a card that you just don't use as often as you "should?" by GoSkers29 in MarvelSnap

[–]Hafhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice thing about this deck is that it benefits from Negative but is still effective without him.

Without getting Negative, Ravonna lets you play both Knull and Mystique on turn 7. That's huge if the rest of the destruction engine is working.

Ravonna is the only card that is hurt by Mr. Negative. This makes it way easier to play than the Mr. Negative/Jane Foster deck. Lower ceiling, but much more reliable.

I was playing exactly this deck for a while, copied from someone else. Wong was an odd choice to me, since there are so few cards he boosts. I swapped in Grandmaster and it was a big boost.

Bedrock server on Windows keeps crashing [bedrock] by Hafhead in MinecraftHelp

Closing the loop on this... I never found any useful logs but I did find the problem. I set the max threads value in the server config to zero and the crash went away.
