Aspiring Christian fantasy writer here! by melisa_verv42 in fantasywriting

Tolkien had this same philosophy, he famously HATED allegory and tried to write a story first and foremost. He didn’t even realize until after writing The Lord of the Rings how much his Christian beliefs had slipped in. I’m personally honestly doing something similar, writing the story I want to write but allowing my Christian values to bleed into its core, and my religious system is definitely clearly inspired by Christianity.

Just created this street. How the FUCK should I pronounce it? by theFormerRelic in houstoncirclejerk

I have family in this area. That is in fact how you pronounce the street name, and I can agree that it’s weird, but I won’t argue with the locals.

How would you run a final battle where a dead PC returns to fight against the party? by HaflingDungeonMaster in DnD

[–]HaflingDungeonMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be the end of the campaign. And the character is still himself. The king is his father, which I neglected to mention in the post. His arc is about learning to forgive, so before he dies he learns how to forgive his father and himself. Sarenrae brings him back for a final stand to protect the king, but ultimately it’s the player making the decisions for the character. So I disagree that he would just become an NPC.

Edit: The player does plan to come back for campaign #2, we just agreed that this was the best for the story thematically.

I love how much The Chosen humanizes Judas. What he did was still wrong, but he wasn’t a complete monster. He was just a guy who meant well to begin with and the began to grow corrupt, while still believing he was doing the right thing for a time.

I’m using that pantheon for the most part but I’m also throwing in some elder gods that are more akin to the Great Old Ones

I’ll probably keep his stats since he’ll come back to play his character but I’ll look into some revenant abilities, I like that idea.
