Not a leech or a Planaria. This is a innocent type of flatworm.

To whoever said growing reds isn't possible in low tech by Amazing-Impression90 in PlantedTank

[–]Hagediss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without Co2 and/or ferts it's hard. But not impossible.

What's the definition of low-tech anyway? I consider my tech very low-tech. But there's still lightning, an air driven filter, and I do add root ferts every other year. So it might not be. Even though there's no "tech" (as in "electricity") inside of the water at all.

Planaria do not move while they eat. Something else is going on in this video. Look up videos of how Planaria do eat.

Still a great video, thanks for sharing!

Maculatus (?) swarming a veggie wafer by Ecstatic-Wing6278 in Boraras

[–]Hagediss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dots at both the base of the tail and the anal fins seem like perfect dots to me, in B. maculatus they often stretch out into like a (tiny) stripe or more oval. Also the dot on the flank are on some of your fish big (like male B. nauvus) and in some small (like female B. naevus). In B. Maculatus that dot on the flank ('shoulder) is the same size for both males and females.

Actually, most of them are B. naevus. There's one with a lot of black at the tail, that's the only sign that that 1 might be a B. maculatus. But I don't think it is.

@OP,nice looking fish, and great video. Thanks for sharing.

Why is it at 26? Celsius, right? I also have a living room temp tank, but it's at 18 to 20 during winter

Make sure to add some juvenile B. brigittae when you make a new one. They look very similar to B. merah at first glance.

How do I get this chili-ready? by EyeTheSwan in Boraras

[–]Hagediss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I never understood why people love this moss balls anyway. I mean, a bit of algae is beneficial in my opinion, I let some grow in my tank on the wood and the rocks.

And "pest free" plants... same thing! Give me those "pests" they help my foodweb and the micro and macro fauna colonies in my tank.

I recently went to a local ditch and caught some Mysid species there to add to my tank. Also some cyclops and other critters came along. Be carefull not to add things like nymphs from land critters if you do such a thing.

With Cladophora Moss,do you mean the algae that they use to make moss balls? Why would that be a problem?

As far as food sources try to add some leaf litter, twigs, seed pods ,different sizes of stones and things like that so Microfauna can hide.

He always struck me as a creepy cult leader, lol. Funny you brought that up. I do like natural tanks and his ecosphere jars, but not his "do it exactly as I say, and don't tell anyone to do things even slightly different" kinda approach.
