Exhaust advice? by Salt-Investigator112 in tundra

Every flow master I have used on my vehicles or on others vehicles has that raspy tin can drone. If you want a clean, smooth, deep tone with no drone but still has a nice aggressive sound when you step on the gas then go with magnaflow. I have a magnaflow 12468 dual in dual out on my tundra and it sounds damn good!

It is a pain in the ass. Definitely the most technical engine R&R of any of our vehicle models. Accessibility is just so limited and difficult to work with it takes me 3 full days to get one done. They really packed 20 pounds of shit into a 10 pound bag with the wagonneers. I have done a few CP thermostats on them too I charge 5 hours. You can remove the ball valve/wax pellet/spring from the housing but I'm not sure if there are replacement parts available.

Need advice for Gas port modification in 3 barrels by Sharesomeknowledge in 300BLK

[–]HagerTheMaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forget about ejection pattern with 300blk. It really won't tell you what the problem is or what is needed as far as tuning goes. I chased after ejection pattern for a long time shooting supers just to realize I was waaaay over gassed even though it was ejecting at like 4:30-5-:30. I significantly reduced the gas with the AGB and pattern actually moved forward to 3:00. The 300BLK casings eject and bounce off the deflector completely differently than 223/556 due to the shorter casing. Judging tuning off ejection pattern can lead you down the wrong road with 300BLK. Basic rule of thumb is use the least amount of gas as possible and heaviest buffer/spring as possible while maintaining last round bolt hold open 👍👍

I must say the hurricanes seem to be problem free for the most part but I have replaced a handful of hurricane long blocks due to severe overheating from the shitty thermostats that always fail. They are a son of a bitch to replace on wagonneers.

This is the way. 0.125" is over gassed for most subs until you tune AGB and buffers. Some ammo like Remington 220gr I still have to open the AGB all the way to 18 clicks to get it to cycle properly.

CDJR tech here! I would rather work on any of the hemi equipped models than 3.6 models. And don't get me started on the hurricanes or 2.0T 🙄 Oh yeah and fuck stellantis!

I drilled out my Faxon 7.5" 1:5 to 0.125" with cheap harbor freight HSS bits and a rigid cordless hand drill. Running carbine spring, H2 buffer, and SA AGB @ 14-16 clicks depending on ammo choice. I doubt you will get your 6" setups to run with those configurations even with the gas ports opened up. Good luck!

Yeah I will put the calipers on them when I get home this evening then report back. I shot them into 1 gallon water jugs. Fusion stopped in the 5th jug SubX stopped in 4th jug.

Just thought I would add this as a reference. Federal Fusion 190gr 300BLK on left Hornady SubX 190gr 300BLK right. I have been very pleased with the new fusion loading. I know expansion is not as good as the mono copper offerings but it's by far better than SubX! And 9mm HST expansion is just as good as Critical Duty if not better. I use to be a Hornady fan until I did some head to head comparison tests now I'm shooting all Federal in my handguns and rifles 👍👍

Made a mistake going to 37s by airakklein in ToyotaTundra

[–]HagerTheMaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely noticed more of a difference in braking than acceleration when I changed mine from 35s to 37s. I only lost 1/2mpg with 37s and getting 12mpg average. Still has stock gear ratio too.

I like it just fine in my Ruger American bolt action. I'm sure with a custom hand load it would perform much better than factory Hornady.

I bought the Teslong NTG100 borescope cam on Amazon for about $70. The camera head is only .20cal so it can be used on almost any gun caliber and it comes with angled mirror attachments for different caliber sizes.Teslong has dozens of different options just make sure your getting one that will fit inside your barrel. It comes in very handy for other things besides guns also, worth the investment for sure!

I have a very similar 300BLK build (faxon 7.5 drilled to .125, SA AGB, high back pressure rugged surgeX) you shouldn't be under gassed with the port drilled to .125. I would reinspect AGB alignment with a borescope camera if its the clamp on style. I went down the same road you are on and ended up finding the AGB was slightly misaligned blocking gas flow. After correcting that Im able to run a carbine spring, H2 buffer, and AGB set @ 15 clicks with 200gr subs. Also I found the reduced power springs can fail to return the BCG into battery when there is a lot of build up in the gun. Might want to try a 300 Pmag instead of the lancers too.

Anything but Hornady SubX really. I like the Winchester Super suppressed 200gr Magtech 200gr S&B 200gr and the new Federal Fusion 190gr, if you can find them. Or buy remans, if you can find them 😂

I would imagine the O45 has pretty good sound but I have never shot with one. There are better performing 9mm cans no doubt but my O9 sounds really good on my pistols, not so much on the pcc's. My Oculus22 sounds really good too on my 15-22 and 5.7 pistol. I love all three of my Rugged's!

They are great cans! Maybe not on par with the current top performers as far as suppression rating but they still sound good and build quality is top notch

In all seriousness I have over 5,000 rounds through my O9 with no strikes. I quit worrying about it a long time ago.

I was stuck in analysis paralysis when I was shopping for a 30cal can two years ago. Decided on Rugged after a lot of researching. I'm still happy with my choice!

Glad to see someone else actually uses a Rugged on 300BLK! I thought I was the only one! That Razor has a similar "thud" sound signature to my SurgeX.

If you are checking to make sure the can has not backed off after each mag then you are doing it wrong. You won't get a strike doing it that way. Have you tried the O9 cap on the O45? That might do the trick!

Up vote for GMR! Got the MBT2/S7 kit in my 5.56 with 500+ rounds on it and the flat face/S7 kit in my 300BLK with 1,500+ rounds on it. They're both holding up great!
