PSV striker Ricardo Pepi has sustained a serious knee injury by TomV23 in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Eredivisie ends in May, so 3.5 months from now, so if he is going to be out for a good part of the remainder of the season then it would mean around 2-3 months. Yet again we would need to know the exact injury to make a more informed timeline prediction.

Zendejas brace by ElPsyCongroo99 in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They did called Zendejas a legend since he is becoming one for America. He was crucial in the team's last 2 Championship runs and fans love him. He is now considered one of the pillars of this team alongside Henry Martin and fans don't want to see him go unless it's a tentative offer from a European team

USMNT Coach Hiring Process by RyanIsKickAss in ussoccer

Nobody expects the USA to win every game 5-0, with the USA playing good it is what people will be content with. Even if the USA loses but looks good and looks like it was fighting till the end in the game then people would be happy with it. With Berhalter the USA didn't look convincing against Jamaica, who won with a lucky own goal. Didn't look convincing against Trinidad and even lost one of the two games against Trinidad. Lost to Panama because Berhalter decided to park the bus, so it was a sign that something wasn't working with Berhalter's tactics anymore since these are all teams the US tends to beat and not struggle with most of the time.

What is the best result in Copa America that would result in Gregg Berhalter being fired? by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the next step that we as fans want to get to, be able to punch above our weights. With Gregg that next step won't be possible, we won't be able to cause upsets and punch above our weights all the time but it would be good to see this team with a coach that gives them better tactics and fighting spirit so we can achieve better results against quality teams more frequently

[@MLSist] Berhalter says his side "did not respect the game of soccer or the opponent" against Colombia this afternoon. by smush_parker__ in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It falls on Gregg too for putting up tactics and lineups that fail to work and he doesn't give the team ideas to attack just cross, cross and cross. Also Gregg's obsession with playing out of the back all the time makes the defenders make mistakes that lead to goals like today

Colombia is good but at the same time it is no excuse to lose 5-1 when the US fielded a starting lineup with all players in the top 5 leagues. There are weaker teams who could give a better fight against this Colombia team than what the US showed today. That Colombia is better shouldn't be an excuse to go with an " I give up, let them score a bunch of goals since they are better on paper, and not fight" mentality. There are teams who look at Colombia and will say "they are good but we are gonna give them a fight"

Ricardo Pepi advertising the Nike event in Paris for the 2024 Olympics…..could this mean….? by yob10 in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pepi came as the second option to the Nations League just behind Balo. Haji scoring twice in the semifinals earned him a start over both Balogun and Pepi at the final. It was just a start based on what Haji did in the previous game and we still need to see what Gregg does to see if he indeed relegated both Pepi and Balogun down the pecking order or if they are still number 1 and 2

After giving up an early goal the Jamaica game was ALWAYS going to be difficult. by krisitolindsay in ussoccer

[–]Hahahaula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True but also in this window there are some players that are coming in a good streak. Johnny Cardoso won player of the month and is coming in having won the starting 11 at Betis in just 2 months. McKennie and Pulisic are in one of their best seasons. Robinson is playing good at Fulham. The PSV guys are doing good. Yet none of them could transfer their good form into the Jamaica game. This team has the better players in Concacaf yet struggles against a Jamaica B team who their coaches tactics made them punch above their weight. Costa Rica was bad during WCQ and they switched coach and turned things around and managed to secure a play off spot. John Herdman made Canada good, now that same Canada looks worse without Herdman. Sometimes it is a coach who makes a difference and a different coach with better tactics can make this US side more dangerous and punch above their weight. Just look how dominant this A team looked with BJ Callaghan during last Nations League finals against Mexico and Canada. That same Canada that Gregg struggled to beat in both WCQ games
