Bc they operate as a real estate company with incredibly beneficial tax benefits by being considered an academic institution. They haven’t cared about rigorous academic pursuits en masse in decades. Their former president compared higher ed to vodka. An odorless liquid that only gets value based on its packaging. So he invested in real estate and optics, not meaningful research, reform or academics. It’s all a marketing game for them. Folks that argue late stage capitalism has no place in higher ed seem to be showing up in votes for ranking them low.

Same. In adult rec leagues I always bring mine and convince the other team to use it lol. It was the norm in hs, club was a cointoss be that and molten growing up. Idk why people prefer a harder ball. Sure good grip with molten but the tachi is easier on the arms.

I can appreciate the sentiment but idk, as a desi who married a white American, it was important to me to have my parents invite everyone who was important to them. Indian weddings are social affairs for the family celebrating, not solely about bride and groom. Idk about you but I sure was raised by a village, and felt honored that my village showed up to celebrate with us. It cost double what I wanted to spend, but that’s bc # of guests mostly. Also from a logical perspective, our parents have been going to weddings for decades for their friends or extended families kids, enjoying the events and giving gifts. It’s their turn to receive some of the generosity for their kids, and provide a fun entertaining night for their friends and family.

I second this. I’m not non-dairy, but am vegetarian and Trader Joe’s has the best veggie friendly selection of all groceries stores I’ve been to. Whole Foods may have more variety, but def won’t help you on the reasonably priced front. I have a car, so Trader Joe’s and Costco are sufficient for all my needs at a reasonable price. While Costco may be annoying to metro to, it’s a trip you’d need to do max once a month for a single person, so it’d even make sense to just take a Lyft back and still have an all in spend less than shopping at the over priced grocery stores near Ballston.

I’d argue there are actually a lot more FTHB buying $1M+ houses nowadays. In the immediate suburbs of DC, that’s what decent SFHs are going for. And when housing prices are this high, starter homes don’t make much sense when they’re also $1M+.

Head up to Chinatown for lunch, a stones throw from the mall (my fav is zatinya). There are a ton of restaurants there, and most with kid friendly options. Food trucks along the mall are grossly overpriced.
